You all know where I stand. Glad it's getting attention, though CR and SP as decent entries?

Bond 25 seems to be getting panned by everyone, and not because of the cast which is quite good...not the type of publicity they wanted. One wonders if the action sequences have been worked out yet? They only have themselves to blame if anything is remotely accurate.

Ah yes, saw that article this morning. The CR and SP bit threw me off... surely he meant SF?

I do recall seeing photos of the stunt team at pinewood a few months back, but supposedly they were put on hiatus when it was delayed.

He may have a point about the struggle for Bond to remain relevant in modern times.

Didn't Skyfall prove that Bond/MI6 is needed now more than ever? And to a lesser extent, Spectre did too, only Bond weirdly decides to quit, just as we were getting used to the idea of Bond being relevant again.

Even still, after Goldeneye excellently establishes that Bond is relevant after the Cold War, TND and TWINE gave us plots still topical today, and for all its faults, DAD pit Bond up against crazy NKs, which again resonates somehow today, with all of Kim Jong Un's posturing.

So, before you declare MI6 irrelevant, ask yourself: How safe do you feel?

Just sayin'. Skyfall and SPECTRE both flout the idea that the 00 section/'man in the field' espionage is no longer relevant before (as you say) going on to prove that it is ... fine and dandy, but they can't keep doing that in EVERY film from now on you wouldn't have thought.

Absolutely they can't (keep doing it every film)! Best get on with a straight, standalone mission, now that we know MI6 is relevant today.

Seriously, despite QOS and Spectre being among the weakest, CR and SF are still going to considered among the better films inthe franchise fifty years from now.

I don't know... I feel the reception toward CR06 is cooling as the years pass, with its flaws becoming more apparent. Sure there are the staunch defenders, but it doesn't seem as universal as it did back in 06.

Brosnan weighs in on the Craig era. Nothing spectacularly thorough, but he says they're "not his circus" despite praising Craig in the role.

I'll wager he's exercising diplomacy knowing how cruel the media (and social media) can be, hence his praise for the actor himself. But I'm not sure whiny mumbles and self oriented storytelling is the circus on many fans, either.

Fair play to Brosnan. Moore remains the ex-Bond most complimentary towards his successors, I think.

As usual he's spot on and cordial and gentlemanly as one should be.

I like Craig in other things as well. But he's so badly miscast here and has many of the wrong ideas which are just taken as gospel. Thus we're drifting so far away from any original materials that the MR double taking pigeon is a more believable 007.

Yep! And the bolded part is the frightening thing. So many-- a generation even- has grown up with Craig as James Bond, and for so long, that this is their image of what 007 is (not (just) physically, but more importantly the mischaracterisation), which is leading to all kinds of silly suggestions like Tom Hardy being a replacement, since he's cut from the came cloth Craig is.
