James Bond on Vinyl LP Empty
PostSubject: James Bond on Vinyl LP   James Bond on Vinyl LP EmptySun Jul 07, 2019 4:27 am

Since I had been asked by some to make videos detailing my soundtrack and vinyl LP collection...I first made this one detailing my collection of Bond LPs where I go into information about different pressings and sound quality for each soundtrack from DN through to LTK which was the last film in the series to have an original vinyl soundtrack release at the time of the film's premiere. This does include the all important CR 67 score which is one of the finest sounding releases of all time, but sadly not the NSNA LP which was only released in Japan in 1983 and is insanely rare.
Currently I'm only missing the mono DN and the mono YOLT. After that I'm going to work on getting all the 7" and 12" singles.
I do talk some about the eventual CDs and 2003 remaster series and make some general comparisons. Later on I'm going to do a video about the CDs in general as a companion piece. This LP video is in the same style as my Bond on Laserdisc uploads.

So if you want to listen to me babble about Bond for an hour and a half...here you go!

Feel free to post any thoughts or comments or memories of having 007 Vinyl issues. One day I'd love to obtain the UK original pressings to check for any sound quality differences outside the few with track differences. (GF and YOLT IIRC are the ones.)

I do think SF got a 2LP vinyl release due to the format's resurgence but I don't really count that one as it was most likely a digital recording pressed onto wax because of the current fad.

Quite the collection, i had a few of these ...Goldfinger, Ohmss and Diamonds are forever but most of my vinyl of which i had a shitload was sold years ago. I am now an avid "streamer" listening to practically all my music on Spotify. I have a Bond playlist for the title songs and another for incidental music, my favorites would be Diamonds, ohmss, and Moonraker (ironically my least favourite film)
I think most of John barrys best work was NON Bond...somewhere in time, dances with wolves, out of africa

I'm too much of a physical media person to do streaming but I understand the convenience aspect. Some of the LPs are really worthwhile while others are merely nice to have.

I do really like a lot of Barry's non Bond scores, most especially IPCRESS, but there's something in the series that just adds to his style that I don't always get in the non-Bonds. Admittedly the first time I saw Dances With Wolves I kept picking up on slight Bond music similarities that were distracting.
