I have a weird habit of not listening to Bond title tracks until I actually watch the film for the first time, so I'll be attempting to avoid it over the next 2 months.

Yes, I did that for SP/WOTW and I preferred that. I might listen to the first few bars but that's it.

Tempted to press play... but I won't. It's getting mixed reviews from fans. A couple have said it's in their top 3, others have said it's "dire"... One clown said Writing's on the Wall was better. I highly doubt that, considering Billie Eilish doesn't sound like she has a bunch of cocks in her mouth. From those opening bars that I did hear in the announcement, I'm optimistic about the song. And it makes me rather excited for Kleinman's titles. It's been confirmed he is designing them, right?

Billie's voice is fine but honestly it sounds too similar to the previous Bond song. The instrumental work and piano really nail that in and even the rhythm of it sounds like Writing's on the Wall particularly the "Fool Me Once, Fool Me Twice" bit throughout. Sam Smith's vocals not being present is an obvious plus but this feels somewhat lazy and unremarkable like something corporate would want thrown together to cash in on the success of the previous two Bond songs.

Nice lyrics
That I'd fallen for a lie You were never on my side Fool me once, fool me twice How you dare the paradise? Now you'll never see me cry There's just no time to die
I'll have to see how well it grows on me, for now Adele's song is still my fave from the Craig era.

Not a fan of Billie Eilish but it's not as bad as I was expecting.

Did SF or WOTW achieve that at all? I can't remember.

Have listened once, it's OK I guess.
Not familiar with Eilish's other stuff, are the bits where the vocals aren't 100% clear standard procedure for her?

Nah. I'll listen to it here directly. Hell, I may not even watch the film, so what have I got to lose?

When Billie isn't writing atmospheric Bond songs, she has some moments of solace...

I think Adele did. Billie is currently #1 in most countries worldwide.
Hope there's an official Music video. It will be excellent promo material for the film.

So you have Connery throwing up over a tarantula in DN, and now an 18 year old calmly putting them in her mouth, singing the Bond theme.
Times are changing.

It sounds like she listened to a bunch of Bond songs and then made what she thinks it's supposed to sound like.
It's not terrible but there is no edge to it whatsoever.

I'm still amazed that her climb to fame includes songs like this...if I was told back then she was being considered for a Bond song I'd be laughing myself silly...but now I have a new Bond song that I've been playing quite often during the weekend.

Yeah. That's the only song of Eilish's that I'd heard and never imagined she'd sing a Bond theme. Good to know you've had it on repeat, though Salome suggesting it has no edge is interesting... Wasn't the point of Eilish's hiring is for that edginess?

Rather grim stuff.
Definitely something of a mashup of SF and TWoTW. Nowhere near as good as the former, but quite a bit better than the latter.
Not much of a melody.
Probably the most vocally-centered and austerely orchestrated of all the Bond title tracks.
All in all, not bad, but not particularly memorable. Much like All Time High, in that respect, although far more dour.
