| It's not a debate of politics of viewpoints.
It's a debate of what becomes distracting or disengaging and fights actively against the character as intended.
If for whatever reason going in drag or wearing a dress is a vital part of the story then so be it-but with something like that you risk losing the plot or your audience as it look ridiculous. This is why the clown disguise in OP is offputting at first and why the film builds up to its reveal. It is the last thing Bond should be in-yet the film shows clearly that it is a desperate move by a seasoned field agent to get to the objective to avert catastrophe. If they had had 007 as a clown just because it would have been jeered at and rightly so. This is also why over the years certain ideas were rejected as simply not feeling right such as Bond's seduction of the original Saida in Mankiewicz's TMWTGG script to get the golden bullet. Darkly funny-yes! Right for the series-not really. |

| I didn't see and will avoid it. I try not to look into actors lives at all because it can bump me out of the films. I've never seen a single interview by anyone who has played Bond for example. It's not that I care what anyone's beliefs or their politics are but there have been a few actors in recent years that have made such buffoons of themselves over politics it's killed them for me. The reason I can't separate the two is the whole time I am watching the movie their antics pop into my head. |

| Ha! Now here's something I think most people have pretty much forgotten about. Came out over a year before SKYFALL, when Craig's tenure seemed uncertain after just two films and with QOS being so polarizing. Strange times indeed.
Now onto the debate. Acceptable? I honestly couldn't give a toss about that ad anymore. Such old hat. |

| They should really have had Brosnan do it as he has much more delicate features and would make a more convincing woman. missed opportunity imo

| In Connery's day, that sort of thing was left to the 'widow' in the Thunderball pre-credits sequence and Blofeld in DAF . |

And yet he didn't. Wouldn't have put it passed Babs to have asked. Speaks volumes. |

I feel like we are seeing the future of Bond. Indeed. That's why I won't accept what's being dished out in this experimental phase unless it's deserves it (a la Skyfall). |
