Wouldn't surprise me. After Quantum of Solace they'll probably want to go with something basic, right to the point. So a one word title would make sense.
Probably wasn't the best press to have the actors and crew saying they weren't quite sure what the title meant.

No way that it is, considering the way we found out about it - why would the execs register a bunch of domains under a film's dummy name?

SPYFALL would be sorta okay if it turned out to be a 'death of Bond' story.
Yeah....... I gotta admit. Even Spyfall is better. Absolutely nothing clever or catchy about Skyfall.

Lousy title. Nothing particularly witty or memorable about it. Sounds like it could be the title of a rather generic, direct-to-video thriller.
It's not the greatest title, but I could get used to it. Skyfall could be the name of the villain...or the name of a space-based weapons program like the Heavenly Wolves or Goldeneye. I could learn to like it.

Possibly intriguing. I think Shatterhand would satisfy more than Skyfall. But...we'll see.

I like trevanian's suggestion on Spyfall. Hope you're reading, EON, let's go with that.

I'd definitely take Shatterhand over Skyfall. It would certainly explain that potentially YOLT-inspired (the novel, that is) castle.

I think there's a story about Duntrune that involves a Macdonald piper as a spy. Guy got his hands chopped off by the Campbells IIRC.

SPYFALL/SPYBREAK are improvements, but they do sound like Len Deighton titles.
I would be pleased as punch if EON went with SHATTERHAND. But I doubt that's going to be so. (FYI, shatterhand.com is registered with Brightline Consulting and purchased in 2004. Doesn't seem like any Sony/EON involvement.)

It's possible of course, that Eon have floated Skyfall as a red herring to drum up a buzz in anticapation of their gala press conference. At said presser they may leave tongues all a-wag by announcing the title as A Whisper of Hate, The Hildebrand Rarity, or Shattmuncher.

Your writing that made me remember ED 209 falling down stairs in ROBOCOP. I'm imagining Craig falling down the stairs, followed by the weird electronic wail ED made as he beat his legs against the cement. Works for me.

Yes, didn't they do something similar just before the QoS press conference? I remember "reliable" reports surfacing just a few weeks beforehand claiming that the film was to be titled THE EMERALD SPHERE, and they had the domain name and everything.
I just don't see EON going with a name like SKYFALL. The folks at EON are stupid, but they're not THAT stupid. I remember Craig being pretty picky when it came to selecting the title for Bond 22.
Like Sharky said, it's also possible that SKYFALL is just a working title or reference title, like BLUE HARVEST or RORY'S FIRST KISS.

Why, when they could just call it BOND 23? They've never used decoy titles before. And frankly, they don't need to be as clever as all that.

I was reading From Russian with Love last night and it occurred to me that The Iron Crab would make a great title for B23. Be a nice sendoff for Judi's last turn as M.

groan... haven't we had enough of space based weapons after DAD?
difficult to see how that can be tied in with Quantum's machinations to date :suspect:
Bond 23 - Skyfall - story synopsis
Henny Penny, also known as Chicken Licken or Chicken Little, is a fable in the form of a cumulative tale about a chicken who believes the world is coming to an end. The phrase The sky is falling! features prominently in the story, and has passed into the English language as a common idiom indicating a hysterical or mistaken belief that disaster is imminent.
There are several Western versions of the story, of which the best-known concerns a chick that believes the sky is falling when an acorn falls on its head. The chick decides to tell the King and on its journey meets other animals which join it in the quest. After this point, there are many endings. In the most familiar, a fox invites them to its lair and there eats them all. Alternatively, the last one, usually Cocky Lockey, survives long enough to warn the chick, who escapes. In others all are rescued and finally speak to the King. In most retellings, the animals have rhyming names, commonly:
