| China? When was this bruited?
As for the castle setting, I like it. Have long thought the series should take advantage of some of the wild settings on the British isles.
PS--Must every bloody Bond-related headline incorporate "shaken and stirred"? Is this part of some union agreement? |

That was Eilean Donan Castle. My guess is that it's M's house. Remember Bond visiting M's country residence in OHMSS? |

| Impressive location. Bernard Lee's M based in the suburbs and Judi's out on a loch someplace. Maybe Bond's breaking into the castle to use her laptop again. |

Hopefully BOND-23 will be an adaptation of LICENSE RENEWED, and the castle will be for The Laird of Murcaldy, the villainous Anton Murik. |

Can't afford one himself, I suppose. |

| I can't imagine Dench's M owning a residence of that nature. She's just not "old school" enough. |

Who'd even want that musky, dank, cobweb-infested, mildew-laden claptrap? I mean the castle, not Judi Dench. |

See. It's all falling into place. Drama luvvie director out of place helming a dumb-ass action flick? Check. Turkey and a castle in Scotland, probably again being used boringly (as if it's not boring and unimaginative enough already that they're both being used again so soon)? Check. Pervert & Waste? Check. j7 filling the boards with life-size pics of the Bond girls the moment they're announced? I hope so, Check. Dench in a "please God, no!!!!!!" expanded role again? It's possibly gonna be her last Bond film, so yeah, Check. Actually, make that Check With Knobs On. Shit, God help us. A pussified Bond? Well, our current man has just given us Jimbo in a dress, while the Bond of TWINE may as well have been wearing one. Check. Awful title rumours floating around, but likely to just end up with another lazy and ill-fitting lift from Fleming regardless of how insulting to the man's memory and words the script and finished film could be? Check. Middle-aged Brit thespian as villain, accompanied by middle-aged foreigner, in the hope that double-villain quantity will make up for a lack of big solo villain quality? Check. EON having to balance the needs of those wanting their explosions, gadgets and awful puns back, yet still somehow trying to pretend that the whole thing has some kind of valid drama credentials? People don't want another QOS, so we'll likely go back to the awkward mishmash approach of TWINE in an attempt to please both fan camps. Check. Arnold doing the score? Check. Title song rumours pointing very much towards safe pastiche territory? Check. Babs still in charge? Check. Fans raving about the film and driving naysayers off messageboards during opening week, but then agreeing that the film was sh**e all along the moment the DVD hits the shelves? Probably, Check. See you back at the lodge. |

I have a feeling that in a year's time (or whenever this thing is slated for release) we'll be reading that piece and nodding, tears streaming down our sullen faces. |

| Some more in-depth news: - Quote :
- Scotland's oldest inhabited castle to star in next James Bond movie
Oct 7 2011 By Alistair Munro
A CASTLE in Argyll is to play a starring role in the new James Bond film.
Daniel Craig will film several key scenes at the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland - Duntrune Castle, near Lochgilphead.
Director Sam Mendes has already visited the location and other parts of the Highlands, and filming with around 200 cast and crew is due to begin in February.
Robin Malcolm, who owns the 5000-acre estate where he farms cattle and sheep, lives at the castle with his wife Patricia.
He has been sworn to secrecy about the plot and what part the castle would play in the film.
However Robin, who was contacted by a location scout six months ago, said: "We are quite happy.
"Filming is in February but there is a lot of work to be done before and afterwards."
The still unnamed movie will again star Craig as the famous spy with Judi Dench returning to play his boss, M.
It is understood the crew will be in mid-Argyll throughout January, February and March, with the film due for release next November.
Robin, whose family have lived at Duntrune for 200 years, said representatives from the film company came to check the location three months ago.
It was one of three locations they were looking at that day. He added: "We never heard any more from them, then they said could they come again?
"By then, Sam Mendes in particular had decided in his heart
The castle is 95 miles, and almost a two-and-a-half-hour drive, away from the nearest city, Glasgow.
Robin hopes recording the 23rd Bond film will prove to be a big boost for local people, who are hoping to appear in the film.
He said: "I reckon it will be good for the economy of mid-Argyll.
"I have asked them to use local labour as much as they can and they will be staying locally.
"The number of cast and crew here will peak at just over 200.
"An awful lot of friends are coming up to me and saying, 'Could you squeeze me in as an extra'? I have suddenly become popular."
Local businesses are delighted at the prospect of greeting Daniel Craig and his entourage.
Hotelier Iain Croucher, of the Argyll Arms Hotel at nearby Ardrishaig, is even planning to introduce a special 007 menu.
The Bond fan said: "I think it will be great for the local community and great for all businesses.
"Our menu will have From Russian Casserole With Love, Her Majesty's Secret Sandwiches, The Man with the Golden Haddock, For Your Pies Only and Scaramanga Scampi."
Darren Dobson, owner of the Cairnbaan Hotel, said: "It is just a godsend for the area. It will give us a fantastic boost exactly when we need it."
Film production company Eon said: "We have looked at various locations for B23. We won't confirm anything until our start of production press conference some time next month."

| Not sure what I think about that ending. Could be corny, though I guess the explosives involved could lessen that. |

Yep, explosions tend to loosen up lots of stuff. Admittedly, mostly bowels. But corniness is surely up there, too. |

| I clicked on the BBC link about Bond23's ending, and I feel it as if 007 will die in this final. I don't know why, but there is a strange feeling with this bleak castle, Patricia Malcom's wording, the way it will apparently be used, the month in which they will shoot the scene, the wintry climate, with the snow perhaps...
I imagine an ending both inspired by the one of Quantum of Solace (film) with the snow, the house in which the vilains are waiting for 007 (in Quantum of Solace, it was him who was waiting) and also the one of You only live twice (novel) with the confrontation between 007 and perhaps Quantum's head (instead of SPECTRE's head, Blofeld). |
