Dating people you work with: good or bad idea?

Have any of you dated people you worked with and how'd that go?

I worked with a woman last weekend, and have to work with her again in two weeks. I'd like to ask her to go out with me somewhere, at some point, too, but (depending if she even considers it, of course) wouldn't want to put our working relationship in jeopardy.

On the brighter side, I guess there's always Craigslist, if all else fails.

Great idea. Once you're no longer an item you're going to have lots of fun at work.

In my experience it is asking for trouble. but it is your life.

I would, if I were you, make it clear to myself what I want from this "relationship" if anything at all.

You could just be "friends with benefits."

That is what I've got going on.

Pretty much everyone I work with is fucking each other. Seems to be working out.

in the late 80s when I was a Realtor, 2 of my colleagues, a man and a woman, both married, were going into the vacant houses that were for sale to have sex.

they were never caught doing it and I was one of the few people who knew they were having an affair.

but one day he decided to break it off with her and she became psycho vengeful beeyach and it caused a lot of problems in the entire office of about 25 people.

it affected everyone because the office environment was so hostile and dramatic - they both still had to show up for work and you couldn't fire them, Realtors being independent contractor

and then there were the sides taking: some people in the office sided with him and some sided with her and that caused more problems.

I was single at the time and I was tempted to date the hot blonde secretary but after these events happened, I didn't even ask her!

a good friend of mine (may he rest in peace) back in the early 80s, when I first graduated from High School and I just entered the work force, gave me this advice which I'd never forgotten:

I did it once. Didn't go so well. Ended up being a sort of three week fling. Awkward as hell after that. Oops.
