Had a few drinks in the last hour, inclined to agree. Granted, it's nighttime in Sydney, so I dunno what your excuse is.

I think it's a good starting point, just needs to be refined. I'll throw I my take when I get the chance.

Banner is a bit wide, isn't it? I'd set Bond first, then the Beyond parts. The Exorcist poster, some Pink Floyd album cover, a b/w shot from Avengers, a photo of Bowie by Newton, another of Miles Davis.

I'd keep the fighter, punctuates the per aspera ad astra nature.

You mean to say it's not? Cor! And here I was thinking all those years... well, never mind. Though it's funny you mention this now, I was asking myself only the other day where that third wing-extension at the top was meant to go and what possible purpose it could have at that place. Glad this now settles the matter for me. It's always a bit awkward when you have to ask the significant other in such moments.

Banner would suit an Action Man forum for 12 year olds...not us, where I suspect some members walk around in raincoats and flash their penises to little old ladies.

Here's my version of the banner, call it a rough draft. I'm open to suggestions.





This goes back to my idea of the banner representing the most popular sections: Bond, Film, TV and Music. I took out Spider-Man as I think we only need one image to represent the Multiplex section, which I think Star Wars perfectly does despite whatever objections some of you have with the series itself (though I am open to ridding the X-Wing and placing in a new image aligned with the others). For the film section, what came to mind was a film that had influences over Bond and is generally appreciated by film aficionados: The Third Man. I wasn't sure about which image to use, either the iconic tunnel shot or the one with Wells. Pick either, or suggest another film you think might represent the film section better. I also replaced the Trek image with a different one, as I would prefer to have images that speak for themselves without being assisted by the title.

Yes, the banner is rather too wide, for my computer screen at least. Perhaps this aspect could be reformed with more emphasis on James Bond himself. Sometimes he gets a bit drowned out here,. I fear.

I like the idea of The Third Man representing the films section, good one.

I think the Bond aspect of the Banner is fine and the tiled presentation works I think the other tiles are too overtly specific in their references (ie those to Star Trek and Spider Man), while the last tile is, I have to concede, meaningless to me....I do prefer the Harry Lime Silhouette in the sewers as a representation of quality/artistic film appreciation and would suggest the others are geared more to broader images ie one to Sci Fi & fantasy which seems a common favourite (encapsulating things like Star Trek and the comic book genre) and one to TV which is really distinct even when individual subjects overlap.

Edit Ah I realize that other tile is music now....hmmm still don't like it!

The album cover should be more eye-catching. For example:

I thought of using NBNW, but then I realized that it would be a bit much given that there is already a Bond image that defines action/adventure. I believe each image should be unique from the other and at the same time represent what this site is all about. That's why THE THIRD MAN seems like a perfect fit for something that is a little different enough from Bond and is a nice representation of the FIlm Discussion section.

I just like the idea of having something with no background, like a cutout.

How about instead -

- PLANET OF THE APES's Empire State Building finale
