Well done, Sabs. I shall call you Scoop from now on. Why did you think his adaptation was so terrible? I thought it was rather well done. |

I will hold out for "creative differences" when he wants to "polish" Purvis and Wade's script that they're currently on 1st draft on.
He did clash a lot with Nic Pizzolatto during the production of "True Detective" season one. So much so that Nic Pizzolatto created an Asian-American movie director in the second season of "True Detective" which was clearly meant as a send-up of Cary Fukunaga. |

I hope he ends up the way of Maestro Boyle. |

| I am curious to hear who you would all be happy with? I'm not saying Fukunaga is the best possible choice in the world, but it's not like they have an abundance of obviously great candidates they could conceivably get, especially with the time constraints caused by Danny Boyle walking away at the 11th hour. |

| Danny Boyle's exit isn't causing the time constraints. It's the shameless attachment to an ageing actor unsuitable for the part which is now demanding a quick turnaround. Boyle, Mendes, Campbell... they all don't want to work with Craig.
Personally, Joe Wright and Tomas Alfredson are the two names that spring to mind to direct a Bond film. Though I don't want these names wasted on a film where the said lead actor would rather slash his wrists than appear again... until a huge some of money is offered. |

Unlikely to be trusted with a big-budget fast-turnaround movie after The Snowman. |

Why did you think his adaptation was so terrible? I thought it was rather well done. I bow to your greater knowledge, Scoop. Truth is, I generally hate film adaptations of my favourite novels - An American Dream, Casino Royale, Gulliver’s Travels, Jane Eyre, The End of the Affair, Lolita, 1984 and Animal Farm... all destroyed.
I'm just waiting to see what’s been done to Ritual in the Dark… I'm not saying you are wrong to find it a poor adaptation, I just can't really think of any reasons why it would stand out as particularly underwhelming or misguided in its choices. |

I guess Joe Wright wouldn't be a bad choice, but the closest thing to a pure action movie he has directed is "Hanna". Tomas Alfredson is still something of a laughing stock for how poor his "The Snowman" adaptation turned out. I wouldn't mind a more daring choice at this point, like Julien Leclercq. |

| The writer has a piece up on EON's choice of Fukunaga:
https://www.theringer.com/movies/2018/9/20/17883058/cary-fukunaga-bond-25-director
I had honestly forgotten about the "It" thing and I don't think I ever knew he was the original director for "The Alienist". |

*Cue Bond theme Daniel Craig as Bond walks onscreen following the movement of the gun barrel, he turns to the camera ready to shoot.
Bang!
Daniel Craig's Bond is shot dead and a man in a 70's styled turtleneck with a brown sport coat and pants walks onscreen with his right eyebrow slightly raised and a smoking PPK in his hand.
"The name's Bond, James Bond." The director of the film says with a warm smile. The audience cheers and accepts the director is the new Bond now. |

| Ha! He actually has worked as an actor according to his IMDB. He appeared in 'Lovesong' in 2016. Stranger things have happened... - Ambler wrote:

I wouldn't mind a more daring choice at this point, like Julien Leclercq. RE: Alfredson, of course he's been blacklisted (in a way), though his work in Tinker Tailor should be his audition for Bond. RE: Joe Wright, the idea is perfect so as to not have an pure action film. I believe this was part of the logic behind Mendes boarding Skyfall. His Dunkirk tracking shot was more exciting than anything in SP. |

| I don't think he is necessarily a risky bet if they were clear during negotiations that he is just there to direct. |
