Yes and specifically Casino Royale. He'd be furious, I'd imagine.

Back when CASINO ROYALE came out he said he wouldn't watch it because of his own baggage (even claiming he deserved credit for the 2006 film being made). No word on whether he gave it a watch over the years. Interestingly, he went on to say that he didn't care for SKYFALL but actually he loved SPECTRE.

He definitely has a "unique" opinion on films in general.

He does like the 60s films the most (which he had screened at his own house theater in LA), so I assume the overt leaning towards 60s Bond elements is why he was more into SP. Also, his buddy Christoph Waltz was the villain, so he probably got a kick out of that in spite of how fans feel about the treatment of Blofeld.

IIRC he was asked if in the future he would still be open to Bond but it seems he was only interested in doing CR and nothing else. Which is too bad, because going by INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS he would have cooked up some pretty suspenseful sequences.

It's doubtful he'd do a Bond film but I think there might be that desire to create his own story. If he can't do Casino Royale he'd probably have his own ideas on how a Bond film could look in the present day. Maybe with Fassbender in the role he might be tempted to pitch a new idea, having worked with him in IB. But yes, he did create some cracking scenes in IB - the opening scene, the tavern scene, the apple pie scene, even the short exchange between Kruger's character and Landa near the end. Great stuff.

If he really wanted to do an original Bond story so badly I'm sure EON would be open to hearing his pitch. He does seem game to approaching certain franchises. Last year he was at one point brought in by his buddy J.J. Abrams to do a Star Trek film because he's a big fan of that franchise and wanted to work with Chris Pine, but Paramount got cold feet during script development so he dropped out.
