What a crock of shit. Anything done by that cheap Cannon group in the 80s sucked more ass than an enema. Was an embarassment to the first two films. PS Is Stallone still doing a remake?
Are you joking? The 2nd film can't be embarrassed by anything, it's abysmal. This one, on the other hand, is a masterpiece of epic proportions.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I honestly can't say it was a hoot; the only genuinely funny thing about it was Depp's half-bald head. Most of the rave reviews seem to come from people who sympathize with the junky life. I'll say that most of it didn't appeal to the kind of humour that I like, with few exceptions. The constant wanna-be funny exaggerated body motion antics by the main actors were unnerving.
But the sets, camera movements and visual effects, alongside a good choice of music, made it watchable.

Your comments chime with a well-argued and fairly negative review on AICN which points out that TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY "should be crazily exciting. But it isn't. The film never seems to pick up and take you anywhere, it just sort of plays out in front of you." I felt the same way about its director's overrated LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/51324

I've never read the novel, but I recall trying to watch the Alec Guinness TV version on DVD a few years ago and giving up after a couple of episodes because it all seemed rather.... well, boring. I gather that the new film adaptation is more streamlined than that TV version but also far less coherent - in any case, it does seem as though one needs to read the book simply in order to understand the film (which is unforgivable - the film adaptation ought to stand alone and be perfectly comprehensible by itself), so I imagine that cutting out these TV and film middlemen and going straight to the novel would be the best course of action.
I think that article is a very fair reflection of my experiences watching the film.

I'm certainly a lot more interested in reading the novel after reading my main man Peter Hitchens' piece 'Tinker Tailor Solider Travesty'.

I wish someone would make a film version of "The Honourable Schoolboy" I think that has greater cinematic possibilities
IMO "TTSS" is one of those internalised stories that doesn't translate well to the screen
I watched the TV series back in the day and was bored by it, I read the book and enjoyed it very much
it was the same with "Brideshead Revisited" I enjoyed the book far more than the TV series
IMO beautiful written prose cannot be adequately translated to the visual, the mediums are too different

BLADE RUNNER (2007 Director's Cut)

It's one of those films that I shouldn't like, but somehow I do. However, it's taken several attempts over the years to get to this point. The film is a tough slog. There's less detective work than one would imagine in a film where the lead character is a detective. The film moves at a very generous, leisurely pace, and the lead is probably the least interesting of any of the characters presented (film is stolen by Hauer and Hannah). It's got a very non-linear, dreamy quality about it.

I wouldn't blame someone for confusing the two in BLADE RUNNER. Deckard's introduced and played as the classic noir detective.

True. And strictly speaking, he doesn't kill, he 'retires'. Rick Deckard: TV repair man.

Drive (2011)

This is a road that has been traveled many times, but at least this is a time where there is someone good behind the wheel who knows every twist and turn - just like everyone watching.

To be honest, I thought it could have been cooler. I thought it would be. The later parts of the film don't do as much for me as the earlier parts, and the last confrontation just doesn't excite me. But the cast is excellent, the writing servicable, and the action solid. Nice to see an action movie that is well shot and edited these days.

I thought Gosling was terrific. And Carey Mulligan is cute enough. I guess people think she looks like a fella. She doesn't do anything for me, but she's good in the part. Christina Hendricks is a true redhead. *cough* Pity she's not in the film more. She sould have bigger parts. .... Brooks, Perlman, and Crantson (he really turned his career around after MALCOLM didn't he?) offer good support.

Yeah, it's a fun movie. Nice style. More than anything I liked the mood. And a killer soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV_3Dpw-BRY#t=1m16s

An enjoyable neo-noir thriller. That's about it. Nothing earth-shattering, and not enough to bring back for another viewing. Hell, I think it should have had more action.

Young Dench was much hotter. Watch FOUR IN THE MORNING. Quintessential 60s London film, and nobody's heard of it.

There's plenty of pics of young Shakespearean Dench with her tits out.

Not as horrible a sight as you might expect. She had such pretty long hair.

We've already had the face cream scene. Onscreen mammography is the next step.

I would like to see EON's tit policy. I'm sure it runs to several volumes.

How can it be that the only film in which Baker Street alumna Eva Green doesn't show her tits is Casino Royale?

EON should've approached Bertolucci.

I think Babs needs some good buttering. Low fat, of course.

BTW - Ambler, you've become BAB's resident Hugo Drax.

Close. They filmed a scene for TMWTGG where M briefed Roger Moore by speaking into a clipper while shaving. The joke being that Bond couldn't hear M over the clipper's buzz.
