I'm certainly no fan of the BBC. Still, I find it hard to believe that Cameron is some kind of secret extreme leftie with a fiendish plot to paint this country redder than Chairman Mao's wallpaper. If that's the case then he's probably the most accomplished confidence trickster who has ever lived.

Nah, he's no Tariq Ali in disguise. He's like Edward Heath, Harold Wilson, and Tony Blair, somewhere in the middle ground. TBH, I can't think of any hardcore socialists left in the three main parties.

Right from a Dutch viewpoint he would be called a very conservetive rightwinger.
And those teabaggers hysterical populist lunatics.

As some of you might know, I read and collect comics...
One book - Wolverine #131 - had some controversy and was recalled from distribution and shredded. This is because Sabretooth was referred to as follows:-
Did a book deserve to be pulled because of a racial slur? Is it okay to kill in comics, but not say racial slurs? Why is it okay to make tv movies and films all about depicting race wars, race killings, and these aren't pulled...but it suddenly becomes offensive in a fucking comic book?
Incidentally, not all copies were returned...

Apparently Detroit is on the verge of complete and total bankruptcy; absolute insolvency. So the Governor is looking into emergency management for the city, which isn't going over too well with John Conyers, a race-baiting bigot who has repped Detroit in Congress for decades:
“How come all of the jurisdictions put under emergency management are majority African American? Has anybody noticed that?” asked Rep. John Conyers (D), who has represented Detroit for 47 years.

Yes! Why, oh WHY is that?
**chirp, chirp**
Conyers doesn't want to know the real answer.

"Local chapters of the NAACP have been fighting against the potential takeover along with labor union members, who are protesting the emergency manager’s powers to break union contracts."
Ever since the auto industry got into trouble Detroit has been a government town. Of course the government is on the verge of bankruptcy. When government is your main industry, collapse is enivitable.
The entitled classes (public-service unions and the political class)are making their last stand. They will take take take until there is nothing left to take.

I wonder if Conyers, even for a nanosecond, realized how big of a foot he just inserted into that mouth of his when he asked that question. I think the answer to his question was contained within the question.

Everyone please feel free to head over to the mammaries game. There's a great final-20 underway, featuring many of your favourite twin-inflatables and the fine figures of womanhood that they are attached to.
The problem with that though isn't racism, it's that this GPS feature essentially is blacklisting neighborhoods. It hurts those who live in the "hood" but aren't hoodlums themselves. If your neighborhood is identified as a bad one, that makes your property value go down, and simply degrades the neighborhood even further. The ghettofication and gentrification of neighborhoods is in constant change, so it wouldn't be fair to cast a pall over a neighborhood on the rise, but has a history of bad apples it's trying to disassociate from.

I've heard the same criticism of AAA when they issue travel alerts for bad neighborhoods. It is what it is. If communities don't want their name associated with violence then they need to clean it up.

Interesting that you should be so self-satisfied given that the Netherlands seems to have exchanged democratic debate for murder. One thinks of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh.
Who's next? Geert Wilders?
A nice example you give the deeds of single crazy people gets distorded into an organised attack on democracy. There have been investigations into the deaths of these two persons and while a lot of people disgreed with their ideas and actions there was at NO time an organisation behind the killing of those two folks. Lone idiots are difficult to stop as most security-services will admit freely.
Sadly Geert Wilders does practice factfree populist politics mostly through twitter. He does not seek to start a discussion as he has admitted on many occasions simply because people who disgree with him are wrong in his not so humble opinion. That in my book should not make him a target for any attempt on his live. But he shows a lot of contempt for a lot of people and does so in what he calls honest remarks which are very general of character and quite often insulting. If his security were to be taken away I fear for his life, which is a sad fact.
Self-satisfied is a big word, but at least we have choices when it comes to voting instead of two of mostly the same political parties. We get to chose out of 10 or 15 parties which means a lot of compromising has to happen in the political landscape which isn't always a happy one but it puts the brake on quick actions. However I do think we could be a little more democratic with certain jobs in our country which are currently a political present for services well rendered.
