http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/06/05/244661/human-barricade-stop-olympic-missiles/

Quote :
Residents in the private gated flats in Bow, east London, have planned to hold a protest walk on June 9, threatening to form a human barricade to prevent installation of surface-to-air missiles on their roofs over Olympic security pretexts.

Over 200 people including angry residents of the missile-sites and activists attended the “Do We Want Missiles in Our Communities” gathering in Bow on May 31, aiming to express their opposition to the UK Ministry of Defense’s deployment of high-velocity surface-to-air missiles across London.

Inhabitants of the private gated apartments in Bow, which is home to 700 people, told the meeting that they “would do everything in their power” to stop the installation of the Olympic missiles on their roofs.

“The Ministry of Defence have tried to claim I am a lone nutter, but I am not alone. There are a lot of people opposed to this. We will protest and if it gets to it, we will ring our building and take to the streets to stop them. We will not be sidelined,” said Brian Whelan, who is leading the Stop the Olympic Missiles campaign to block the deployment of the missiles.

Furthermore, local resident and Respect spokesman Abjol Miah said, “We don’t want the missile on our doorstep. If that means standing outside to protect our doorsteps, we will do it.”

The MoD has confirmed that six sites, including two residential blocks of flats, would be tested as launch pads for missile systems in order to combat air threats during the 2012 Olympic Games.

Potential sites include the Lexington Building in Tower Hamlets and the Fred Wigg Tower in Waltham Forest, both in East London, Blackheath Common and Oxleas Wood, both in South East London, William Girling Reservoir in the Lea Valley Reservoir Chain in Enfield and Barn Hill at Netherhouse Farm in Epping Forest.

Ugh. NBN - the network broadcasting the Olympics here in Australia - have made me embarrassed to be an Australian with this bloated, wildly over-produced and self-congratulatory piece of shit they're using to promote their coverage of the games:

It's basically masturbation.

How utterly ridiculous.

Imagine thinking that something remotely interesting might happen during what's basically a fortnight of bloody athletics.

Helicopters seen flying through London's Tower Bridge in suspected Olympic opening film stunt

Two helicopters have flown through Tower Bridge in London, filming footage that is believed to appear in the James Bond feature to open the Olympic games this summer.

Yesterday evening, a helicopter with a camera mounted on the front followed a second sporting the colours of the Union Jack through Tower Bridge in central London.

The Port of London Authority has confirmed the filming was related to the upcoming Olympic Games.

Is this the helicopter Daniel Craig will climb down from for London 2012?

This news fits in well with the recent rumours that Daniel Craig would be opening the London 2012 Olympic Games by climbing down a rope ladder attached to a helicopter, hovering above the Olympic stadium.

Filming with Daniel Craig has already taken place at Buckingham Palace, with a cameo from Her Majesty the Queen also. The feature is being directed by Danny Boyle.
