| Maybe this? http://i500.listal.com/image/144272/500full.jpg
I don't know what other ground the banner should cover...
Connery covers Bond (and older film, somewhat). Bowie covers music. Hendricks covers TV.
And then... what else? |

| Fleming --> Literature?
What about an image of a drink to cover lifestyle? It'd also point out that this place is more for adults, not kids. |

I've never had Lagavulin. Any of those sound good, though. |

- I don't know what colour palette is available to M, but the current attempts to emulate Louis Armstrong's retro look use primary colours that make the place look like a plastic Fisher Price nursery. I'm sure that's not deliberate, but if this is to be a lifestyle forum it needs to have an air of sophistication.
I didn't see these colours... M, are you using a hex code generator? That would let you pick colours with far more precision (if you're not using one already). If it helps, here's a more elucidated version of my idea: - Drop one of each of the banner colours into each forum header, in the same order as in the banner, to create a sense of unity. - Black background, white board table, off-white board body. - All the borders separating forums, posts, etc. should be hardened into pure black, for sharpness' sake. The borders could even be thickened. We shan't be wishy-washy. The general idea is bold and bright, but still refined. |

| To represent drink in the banner, use a pic of Oliver Reed or Richard Harris with a big bottle or pint in their hand. That kind of person sums up perfectly our more anarchic side, as well as blending in perfectly with the retro angle of the colours. Also, it would create more unity to have the banner 100% person-populated, instead of having just one pic of a drink throwing it off balance. |

| I'm trying to find a pic of Reed, Harris, Burton or O'Toole standing with a glass in their hand, from head to toe. It's proving very difficult.
Something like this, but with visible shoulders, a contrasting background, and an entire body.

| I guess it's all part of the plan, in-flight entertainment. Should at least change the poll now that the orange has gone. "Have you been Tango'd?" |

| Maybe a photo of a sloshed Kingsley Amis would work for both drinking and literature. |

You're both mods, for Christ's sake - why didn't you take on the initiative to delete the poll? It's gone, but next time don't stand there like a lemon - act. |

| To be fair, I tried deleting the bastard poll and all it did was the close the damned thing. |

| New banner is excellent, everyone! I'm not sure who designed it and the new colour scheme, but they have my vote! Please keep this one! |

*Back to my summer hiatus* I know I've said this via PM, but I just wanted to say a public thanks and heap my praise and love on the great banner designed by Messrs Armstrong & Shark. Brilliant work, guys. Also, thanks for people's patience. A full redesign was indeed slated for 30th June, but unfortunately all of the ingredients weren't in place before that date, thus I had to go on holiday leaving the forum unchanged. Since then, I've had to piece the current layout together via mobile phone, battling constantly shitty reception whilst also trying to enjoy family hols. So thanks again for everyone's patience. There are still a few little things to iron out on the forum (layout & background to name just two), but we'll get there, don't worry. Lastly, I'd love every member here to view the new look as a new start, a clean slate. Let's move forward, which really isn't as difficult as it seems, because we've got the people here capable of doing it. Thanks again. Sincerely, M
