The producers may have killed off Strawberry, but Gemma has kept her alive by writing a short story on the character, probably creating a "feminist" version of events.

Sigh. Seems as though it's lost on her that Fields was in fact drawn to Bond, and that he didn't take advantage of her. Though I understand this may have been misinterpreted because of that daft stationery line.

This entire thread is spot on. What a terrible waste.

But the character really didn't serve a purpose and was clearly there as a plot contrivance which more than anything I think made her feel so subservient. Agreed that it was a mutual situation but could feel otherwise due to the unbelievably poor handling of that scene and the character.

I like Fields for the sheer ludicrousness of sending a gorgeous office clerk to escort someone MI6 considers 'dangerous'. And Arterton's accent.

The fact that Fields takes herself so seriously adds a degree of bizarre to an otherwise oh-so-serious, "gritty" film.

Bizarre is right. I loved her sudden appearance and found myself wanting know about this gal and forget all the other crap. How did she get there, who was she, why was she so serious and obviously a bit in over her head?
