One of my favourite critics, Leonard Maltin, gives his two cents on SKYFALL. He loves it:

Revisiting Maitin's Skyfall review. It has been besmirched below the line by the growing problem of FITS (Female Insanity Twitter Syndrome).

Quote :
SKYFALL [has a] uniquely reactionary approach to gender and geopolitics. The women including Judi Dench are all portrayed with a curious physical powerlessness, such that the message is women should be desk-bound rather than in the field. Bardem's character appears to be a demonization of internet hackers like Julian Asssange, whose freedom of information crusade is patronizingly characterized in cheap Freudian terms as a neurotic's childish revenge. Even the idea of civilian oversight of the Secret Service is ridiculed in a melodramatic demonstration of the impotence and ignorance of British MPs in the face of violent confrontation. I couldn't help thinking, Karl Rove would certainly approve.

A 77-years-old Judi Dench has 'a curious physical powerlessness'. Get well soon, Meredith ...

And don't forget how desk-bound Sévérine is....so many desks in that casino and yacht.
But I must tell you that I seriously dislike her because of that wide, moist eyes "Can you really kill him?". Does she actually say: "Are you the one?" or is it only in the subtext? The little helpless princess waiting for her knight. Even Kara tries to make a better show with her gun...

And M launches a nice attack in the Skyfall mansion. She's not so powerless as it is claimed...That's the problem with generalisation again. Don't say "women" if you mean "Moneypenny".^^

The defence of Assange is funny given that the Left would turn on him within six months of that comment being made. Times certainly change.
