Killing Joke's Democracy. One of the most underrated albums I've come across.

The Garden - John Foxx
Forget the video, this is one man and his electronic wall of sound. The humanity of analogue vocoder allied with divider chains triumphs over zeroes and ones once more.

Today I plumbed in a new washing machine while drunk and listening to the Damned's Machine Gun Etiquette.Time will tell whether that was a good idea.
I Just Can´t Be Happy Today has possibly the finest keyboard solo known to man and it's played by a hamfisted cretin at that...

It's 130AM here. I'm bored, waiting for the SKYFALL trailer, goofing around on Google Earth, listening The Highwaymen.

Latest new release purchases:
Slash, Apocalyptic Love with Myles Kennedy on vocals, who sounds a lot like Axl. I recommend a G&R reunion minus a-hole Axl with this guy on vocals.
They could be called Pistols and Petunias or something
Slash rocks hard as always.
Smashing Pumpkins, Oceania
Great heavy rock with lots of experimental weird stuff too, from the new Pumpkins line-up
Garbage, Not Your Kind of People. nice mix of heavy guitars and electronic noise. Manson's vocals seem to get a little lost in the mix. I'll give it as none of the songs are separating themselves from the pack yet.Odd, as Garbage has always found the catchy hooks and top 40 hits before.
Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Thick As A Brick 2
40 years later, Gerald Bostock has grown up. Anderson and his solo band explore what might have become of him. Both heavy and folky. Very Tullish. Anderson stays true to the prog rock sound of the original.

Really surprised by how solid and engaging this album is. The Pumpkins seemed a bit doomed to me after Jimmy Chamberlin left (again), as his powerhouse drumming was probably the best thing about their last album, but Corgan has assembled a good new line-up and one of the many fine things about this new album is the real sense of genuine collaborative musicianship. I love the "weird stuff" too, such as the way Pinwheels opens with curious synth bleeps which then lead seamlessly into the lovely central guitar melody. I love the use of electronics on One Diamond, One Heart and on the strong and ambitious multi-tier title track as well. Granted, no tracks on Oceania scream "classic" as far as Pumpkins "anthems" go, but this is nevertheless a consistently good and very well-balanced album, one which has rightfully won the critics over after the slightly undeserved over-kicking the last Pumpkins album received. This Pumpkins line-up definitely has a future.

And there is the Teagarden 12 track download that preceded this offering. I did dutifully pull all the tracks off the Pumpkin website and listened to them on my computer speakers, in dribs and drabs as I got them, but I couldn't quite get a feel for the work as a whole.
I must get the tracks onto my full stereo system and see how they compare with Oceania, but yes Oceania is a real nice listen. It's a well constructed mix of Pumpkin styles, and yes bossman Corgan does let the others play too, giving the album more of band feel.

Paint A Vulgar Picture
The amount of arguments I've had with Lazers, who continues to insist that The Smiths were better than The Beatles for the main reason that the Smiths never put a single bad track out there, started on a high and finished on one, etc. To be fair, that discography by no means makes a liar of him and I'd recommend it all to anybody.

See the Beeb have been bombarding Beach Boys 50, the live concert for Radio 2, Jools Holland...etc...
And all the while fitting in a God Only Knows pun
