Hollywood: sex scenes out!

Unfortunately, that's Hollywood and the state of mind of people in today's society nowadays.

A movie with sex scenes and nudity?

Oh we can't have that.

Censor it!

The world is going to end!

Give it an NC-17 rating!

But a movie with gory blood and guts horror is okay!

Yes! It's going to make Millions;

audiences everywhere are applauding and demanding a sequel.

No wonder we have so many incidents of mass shootings, murder suicide, mass murders, serial rapists, child killing.

We as a society as gotten so desensitized when it comes to violence that human life no longer has any value anymore.

After all, we live in a disposable society combined with instant gratification.

A new iPhone just came out!

So what my current iPhone is only 1 year old and it still works; gotta have the new one!

Gotta have the latest whatever toy the manufacturers are shoving at us.

That's disposable and instant gratification.

That is also the cause of divorce: the grass is greener on the other side.

You get tired of your wife/husband after a while? No problem. He or she is disposable! Get a divorce! Replace him or her! Get a new man or woman! Instant Gratification!

Better yet, kill her or him!

That's why you hear about so many men killing their girlfriends for breaking up with them.

Hey, if I can't have you, no one else can but how do I make sure no one else can? Take your life and then bury you in the woods or cement you in the spacing between the walls! After all, you are disposable!

You are like an old phone or old computer or old car: throw you away into they day's trash!

Sex and nudity is beautiful and natural.

Blood and guts and murder is not natural.

The world is going to hell in a hand basket and in the end when Mankind becomes goes the way of the Dinosaurs, it will most likely be at our hands and not at the hands of Mother's Nature.

There's this anecdote about how Robert Altman brought his idea of casting Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyle in the Popeye movie and Bob Evans' reply was something along the lines of "No way, I wouldn't want to fuck her."

BODY HEAT is a lousy film. Only John Barry, William Hurt and Ted Danson come out that well.

Given how clinical a lot of Hollywood sex scenes are, I'd rather not see them at all.

It is a shame though how violent content has such a free reign in comparison to sex. If a film like Angel Heart would be made today, I bet it would be a gore fest, devoid of any sensuality, and probably starring Ryan Gosling.

Ryan Gosling seems to be making a career out of being a prettier version of Mickey Rourke.

Since he started looking like his face is on inside-out, isn't everyone a prettier version of Mickey Rourke nowadays?

What film(s) do you folks think triggered this trend in Hollywood?

Sometime in the late 90s/early 00s.

It's due to video games taking over youth culture, and blockbusters being targeted at a younger demographic. I remember that was Martin Campbell's answer in the CR commentary, when talking about how the blood in the stairwell fight would never have got past the censors in '95.
