Thought I'd wander over from the nuMi6 and see whats going on over here. Seems its now a split Mi6 community with a lot of double memberships like the old Studio 54 that Brown ran.

Anyway I've left the old hockey dressing room nick name "timmer" at the old place (which I only ever selected in the first place, because I was getting frustrated with all the names I really wanted being rejected because they were already in use) and have picked the really gay sounding tiffanywint for here, but hey I love both characters, so why not.
Almost changed my name to the "blue speedo", in honor of my 21st favourite Bond film, but there is no going back, so the avatar will do for now until it starts giving me nightmares. Sorry just trying out the new emoticons.

I think it's more just a case of people wanting a different experience. A lot of people were really content with the old forum format and never wanted it changed. I think we need only recall the "improvements" thread at the old MI6 to know that not a single person ever posted on there that they would like the forums to be turned into something "Facebook-esque", which in many ways I guess should have alerted the powers-that-be at MI6 that the new layout mightn't go down well. But hey, what's done is done, it was their call to make. In fairness, many here are still posting occasionally at MI6 (myself included) despite not liking the format, when they could arguably have been justified in saying "Why should I write in a format I hate? Why am I here?" Thus, I'd call this place and MI6 two different experiences, kind of in the sense that a week ago people had the choice to chat about Bond on Facebook or chat about Bond on the old MI6 forum. Everybody chose the forum option, which I think explains a lot about why many people have decided to come here.

I think Fae should be a mod here. Someone's got to keep Fieldsman in line. 8)

And I think all members IMO old and sundry, and brand spanking new should be encouraged to join here. The more the merrier and the more diversity (if I may use that tired old pc term) of opinion the better.
Its nice to have the old style message board format still around as well.

MI6 Classic may have died a few days ago, but it seems to me that in many cases people are actually mourning a place that snuffed it quite some time ago. There was a steady erosion of freedom at MI6, particularly in the last couple of years, presumably to appeal to a younger demographic.

Thanks Laz. Its good to have the old forum format to frequent. I'm not that bothered by the new format but what a firestorm of discontent. I certainly empathize with those that were upset. Many had much invested in those old threads.
I hope that many that stay over there will also come here. Its not the worst thing to have two forums with a lot of the same people. The more cross over and double membership the better, but thats IMHO of course.
