Penny Dreadful - season 2

Anyone watching this?

I gave this show a chance due to Tim Dalton being amongst the cast.

The first season was a bit hit and miss in terms of the writing, but it had a few good stand-alone episodes.

I find the second season far superior (so far), with more interesting antagonists and better writing all around.

Haven't seen it, but I'm told that Billie Piper's take on a Belfast/Northern Irish accent is altogether something to behold in its terribleness.

Apparently, her character 'Bronagh' said in the first series that she was 'from the Shankhill'. Seems unlikely; that part of Belfast is very much a Protestant one, and Bronagh is very much a name given to Catholic girls. Oops.

Piper is perhaps the weakest member of an otherwise decent ensemble.
I cannot comment on the accent.

Last two episodes have slowed down things a tiny bit. Still a quite decent sophomore season, improving almost every aspect of the show.

I miss this show. It was never the best show on TV, but likewise there wasn't anything quite like it on TV, either during its run or now.

It was also rather in love with its setting. Elegiac even.
