I'm sure we've all watched movies and thought 'Well, that could have lost (insert amount of minutes) easily to no great detriment'. I'm a great believer in taking only as long as the story needs.

I feel that way about every movie ever made. 2001:A Space Odyssey would have been a great little 90 minute movie but Stanley felt the need to eff around with those gd monkeys for an hour. I can never get past the monkey part. f***off with the monkeys! get that ship in space and let's go!

Only teasing, BI.
But to continue this conversation, the first film that popped into mind is Django. 40 minutes could have easily been shaved off the end.

Heh, for me Tarantino has needed an objective script editor for quite some time now. Basterds, Django and Once Upon A Time ... are all overlong but enjoyable, whereas Hateful Eight is just overlong.

I think IB is one of his strongest so I disagree there, and I quite liked Hateful Eight, but I'm partial to films set in one location. But yes, they could all be a little tighter, particularly Once Upon A Time... and Django.

I think in nonexistent terms. I still think films are either too short or too long by reel counts.

Sean Connery on CR06: "It was half an hour too long and the music was shit."
No further comment from me, just a criticism from someone with no vested interest.

I'd forgotten about that! Far too kind in my mind but he's not wrong!
The facebook page has released this new video focusing on Madeleine:
No matter how much they try to press the idea that she "captured Bond's heart", it won't ever be believable. But it just occurred to me, with rumours of cloning being a focus in No Time to Die... What if they go back to their source material - Austin Powers - and have Madeleine pull a Liz Hurley/Vanessa where she turns out to be a fembot?
Sounds so ridiculous it just might be true.
And there's another TV spot. Bit more Ana and a couple of new shots. Some nice bit of bizarre and neon(?) with Nomi at that party. Also that shot of Nomi in M's office with Q and Moneypenny. Why does everyone look shocked in this movie.

We all know there will be some buried dark secret with Madeline or she'll get the axe in some way. Either way it will be the Vesper or Tracy route or some combo of the two. The only other remote possibility is her walking away like Gala Brand or something.

Damn, I knew it was almost inevitable...all the live-cast promotion in China has been scrapped because of the coronavirus issue.
Hollywood movies will be hit hard because all cinemas have been closed until further notice.

I reckon they need to worry more about their script than coronavirus.
Now they'll have an excuse as to why the film bombed.

I don't think it will be a bomb...the 'woke' theory has been rested. There's more talk about Bond being betrayed than replaced.

Bond was never that big in China, so the losses NTTD will get from that will be no where near as massive as some other franchises. SPECTRE is the highest grossing at $84m, with SKYFALL behind it at $59m. When you compare that to other franchises, they're very minor hits.
Two other franchise films that will seriously hurt this year are BLACK WIDOW and FAST & FURIOUS 9. The Marvel and F&F films were massive hits in China. The last few F&F films even made more money in China than in the US. So if Universal is going to be concerned about one film at the box office it's definitely FAST & FURIOUS 9.

I was referring more to the script potentially being a shambles because it's being built on shaky foundations than the politics...
...But Bond being betrayed? Like his stint in NK? Hadn't heard about this development.

According to Billie and her bro, they were given 20 pages of the script to get an idea of how to develop the song, and the song's theme is betrayal....Maddy, I'm looking at you, bitch.

Ahh emotional betrayal. Somehow it doesn't register that Madeleine betrays Bond because it truly seems they give no fucks about each other.
But we all knew that this relationship is doomed so hardly a surprise. I'd be more interested in seeing some kind betrayal a la the Bond/Frost dynamic in DAD fully fleshed out, tbh.

Yet another photo masquerading as a poster. In black and white. Gritty.
Except his eyes. Because they're so blue they transcend black and white scaling.

Yes because that screams....generic... What aside from the tiny logo indicates that this is the new film? Nothing.
Let me guess. DC had input on this too. The blue in the eyes is the only focused colored element.

I don't hate it, but it looks like a generic VHS cover from the 90's.

It's a slightly curious choice so soon after the Bond-on-motorbike one ... this makes it look a bit like a film noir.
But I think all the posters since the meh 'Bond in tux against a teal-coloured wall' teaser have at least been reasonably interesting, thank God.

I dunno, they've all been photographs, really. A new, low budget Aussie film just got a poster released and it's far more interesting than big-budget NTTD:

No Time To Die will feature the longest PTS ever, at approx 20 minutes, according to MGW.

The lyrics in the title song give a big clue as to what happens in that 20 mins

Which is congruous to Eilish stating that when she met with Babs in Ireland to discuss the Bond theme, Broccoli explained what the first scenes of the movie are, which inspired the song.
