CR: Cornell was announced as the singer in June and his song was released in late September.
QOS: Jack White and Alicia Keys were announced in July and their song was also released in late September.
Typically we should have had found out who the singer for SF would be a month ago or two. I'm suspecting that EON has hit the jackpot and they want this to be a huge surprise when it's very close to the release date. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced the singer AND released the song at the same time to really blow people away.
Hopefully it'll be amazing, because the last one was just AWFUL.

And they're probably keep to avoid a repeat of last time when they did not control the release of the song - Sony did, and they allowed Coca-Cola to use it in promotional materials before EON were ready to have it released.

I hope they release it before the film, so I can listen it many times so I'll understand the lyrics (I have some problems with the spoken english) and when I'll go at the cinema I'll recognize it during the soundtrack.

They almost certainly will release it before the film, but will probably wait until the right moment. They're not going to release it on any old day - they'll wait for an opportunity that will give them maximum exposure.

Sometime during the first week of October (what with the 50th anniversary date actually faling in that week) seems likely to me.

I think they've had Adele in the bag for quite some time. We'll see.

Typed in "SKYFALL" in Google News Search today hoping to find something, anything about the title song. As luck would have it, Billboard.com had a new story posted 15 hours ago that said Adele was spotted entering and leaving a Downton Abbey Road music studio, where Thomas Newman is composing the theme. Unfortunately, after further digging into the story, it was simply a report based on a report in THE SUN newspaper (which, I take it, is not a respected tabloid in the U.K.) <sigh>
So, 6 weeks or so from the release of the movie and we still have no confirmation of who the title/theme singer is going to be. If it is Adele it will be anti-climactic, as we've been assuming her all along. I hope there's a really good reason for all this secrecy.

Likely to prevent the song from being leaked, that fewer people would be searching for a particular song made by a particular artist with a specific title, which is what happened with the last two songs getting leaked. Seems to be working.

OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder Has Heard Adele's James Bond Theme, Says It's the "Best in My Lifetime"
A variety of sources have claimed to have confirmed that Adele has recorded the theme song to the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall, but now we have concrete proof that it exists: Adele's friend and collaborator, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, has actually heard it...and he says it's awesome.
Responding to a fan's question on Twitter about the Bond theme, Ryan wrote, "ive heard it. Best bond song in my lifetime. Hands down- hats off once again to Paul Epworth and Adele. hope they win Oscar!"
Paul Epworth co-wrote three songs on Adele's album 21, including "Rolling in the Deep."
As for whether or not the track is the best James Bond theme in Ryan's lifetime, he's 33 years old, so let's do the math. That means that he thinks that the new theme is better than themes performed by the likes of Sheena Easton, Duran Duran, a-ha, Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Alicia Keys, among others.
It's worth noting that the only James Bond theme ever to hit #1 in the U.S. on the Billboard Hot 100 is Duran Duran's "A View to a Kill," from 1985.

HMV Deny Playing Adele's 'Skyfall' James Bond Theme Tune In Store 21st September 2012, 16:40
Music retailer HMV has denied that they played Adele's theme tune for the forthcoming James Bond film Skyfall in one of their stores.
It follows claims from a Twitter user that they had heard the track at a HMV store in Guildford today (21st September).
The song for the forthcoming film has yet to be officially unveiled and James Bond bosses have still yet to confirm reports that Adele has actually sung the theme.
A spokesperson for HMV told Capitalfm.com they had contacted the store in question and staff were adamant that the theme tune had not been played on their multi-CD player, which provides all in-store entertainment.
Gennaro Castaldo said: "The only thing we can think of that could feasibly have happened, though none of our staff heard it played - so it sounds very unlikely - is that a member of the public came in and, using their digital device, played a snippet of the song on one of the store's speaker docks, which we stock and the public are free to use/test."
He added that this was "very unlikely scenario".
Adele is widely reported as the artist who has recorded the official theme tune for Skyfall.
Earlier this week, Total Film magazine said Adele had been confirmed to sing the theme tune for the next James Bond film, Skyfall, but the production company behind the movie have still yet to confirm the report.
Despite that, bookmakers William Hill have already paid out to customers who had placed bets for the 'Someone Like You' star to sing the theme.
Skyfall will once again see Daniel Craig revise his role as James Bond, with Judi Dench also starring. The movie goes on general release on 26th October.

If it's better than the best of that lot, then it'll be a bonzer tune. Personally, I'm skeptical.

I call Bs on this whole thing. It sounds like someone just wants to let on that they know more than they actually do, and so made up the story about the theme being played in the store.

That doesn't prove anything, except that Willy's friend thought he heard it.
Quote :
- Song contains the word 'sky' and 'fall', but not together as he recalls.
In the middle of a busy store, that could have been anything - "sly" and "tall", for instance.
Quote :
- Living Daylights is a comparable. Song is more electronic and melancholic.
That sounds more like something Florence and the Machine would produce, not Adele.
Quote :
- Not "gimmicky" or big and brassy. More "grown up."
With the lack of any further description, that could mean anything.
Quote :
- It wasn't announced as the Skyfall theme, or anything. He's just assuming it was, because it was unmistakably Adele, a new song he hasn't heard, and sounded pretty Bond-y.
It's not difficult to make something sound Bondian. Kasabian managed it on Let's Roll (Just Like We Used To), for instance.
And while Adele is distinct, I don't think she's so totally unique that she can easily be picked out of a musical line-up.
To me, this whole thing feels contrived. It is oddly-specific, but lacks any detail whatsoever. I find it strange that half a dozen highly reputable forum members would have heard it and been able to confirm it independently, and yet there isn't a single news article on the matter and no members of the public have come forward claiming to have heard it.

Muse claims that their new track "Supremacy" was inspired by the Bond themes, LIVE AND LET DIE in particular.

Well, I never would have guessed Live And Let Die. I hear shades of the John Barry soundtracks in the background...maybe a little Thunderball, but that's about it. As a MUSE fan I have to say that I don't think Supremacy would have been a great Bond song; it's not even a really good Muse song. But what do I know? I count Another Way To Die as among the best title/theme songs ever.
Going off-topic just slightly...currently the most played song on my Ipod is Muse's "Survival" by a wide margin (with Uprising being one of the only other songs on my Ipod to get more than 200 listens). It took a second and third listening to get my head around the song, but as one reviewer wrote: It's 'arse-rippingly good' and could be one of the best Muse songs ever. Yet it's also highly controversial and has almost no commercial viability. Why? First of all, Survival starts off with a one minute and thirty-six seconds instrumental that sounds nothing like the rest of the song. The tone of the song also feels like it goes against the spirit of the Olympics, for which it was written. Lyrics like "I won't forgive, vengeance is mine" don't really fit with the theme of sportsmanship, plus what is it that Matt Bellamy isn't forgiving? What is he taking vengeance upon? On top of the lyrics and the weird shift from classical intro to jazz/broadway stage music to finally hard-rock, the camp nature of the over-bearing background choruses takes away some of the ability for people to take the song seriously. It just does. If Survival had been released in 1978 by QUEEN then yes, the song would have gone straight to #1. As it stands, Survival seems to just be puttering around on the charts. I love it. It's one of my Top 3 Muse songs, but it's also frustrating.
Adele's submission will probably be better than Muse's Supremacy. I sense MUSE had a few songs up their sleeve in case EON came calling, but if Supremacy is any indication of what they had to offer, EON's decision to go to Adele looks more solid.

Despite a number of her staff confirming the singer-songwriter's status as the title theme performer for the new James Bond film "Skyfall" in recent weeks, and even snippets of lyrics being leaked, perhaps the following nugget will convince any hold outs about Adele's involvement.
Below is the first look at the cover artwork for Adele's single. Although it is titled 'Skyfall', there has been some speculation that the full title for the song will be "Let The Sky Fall".
It has not been confirmed yet if the track will have a traditional CD single or if it will be a digital release only.
