| This is tough! The early films did travelogue so well. If we have Dover and Miami, should we add Venice to the list, too? |

| I could do. I was going to originally but Bond technically wasn't there, the film was but when we saw him there it was against back projection. I'll add it anyway. |

| For me it's a tossup between Bahamas, Japan and Las Vegas. Like Louis Renault in Casablanca, I'll see which way the wind is blowing before I cast my vote. |

Connery technically wasn't in Miami, either. Ordinarily I'd go with Venice. It's distinctive and as silvertoe says, a place of utter beauty. But considering we don't spend too much time there, I'm tossing up between Jamaica, Istanbul and Japan because of how they're integrated into the stories and the supreme location work. Combine that that the exoticism of such locations, it ups the sense of adventure one gets from watching Bond's mission unravel in locations I've never visited or otherwise seen too much of. |

| So are we voting for "the location" or use of the location in the relevant film?...if it's the latter i might have voted differently |

| No hard and fast rule I imagine but I'll let Hilly clarify. I feel the integration of a locale in Bond film is important to the Bond mythos which is why I went down that route. |

| Nothing earthshattering just the use of it in the film. |

In that case Switzerland is the best used location IMO |

| From Goldfinger? Interesting. It uses that strip of road very well, but it could have been anywhere really. The Swiss portion of Goldfinger was actually set in England in Fleming's book.
Switzerland was used much more effectively in OHMSS imo. |

| Voted for Jamaica, the Bahamas and Japan ... in each case, something about the place is learned that goes beyond mere 'nice location' travelogue and was probably broadly unknown previously to seeing the movies (the Junkanoo in TB, for example). |

| I think Jamaica was the best, in terms of how it's used and balanced with story. Contrast that with Tokyo, a fine location, but it feels like it's taking more precedence over plot than anything else so the balance is off. |

It is certainly the most beautiful city I have been to, but I voted for The Bahamas here, although Jamaica was also a candidate. |
