This shit sounds like it belongs on the Drive soundtrack.

This film was the biggest letdown of the last year for me. I went in with huge expectations and came out wanting my 100 minutes back. The opening scene was awesome and tense but everything afterward was boring, half baked and pretentious. I couldn't bring myself to care about the two main characters or, more importantly, to buy into their relationship/connection. I found the soundtrack jarring and out of place as well.

Now, I F***IN' loved "Drive", but since everyone else on this entire forum hated it, I thought we'd all share a laugh at this admittedly accurate image.

I dunno what I was thinking when I said the soundtrack was good. I think I only liked the Nightcall song because it worked well with the titles.
DRIVE needed something like this:

The BBC has replaced Drive's soundtrack for its showing next week:

Since I hated DRIVE and its music I don't care, but if they start fucking with Benny, Jerry, Barry or Johnny, it means war.

What exactly is the reasoning behind this? Is it a gimmick?

It's a social experiment.

I did. It just mentions he was the lead of a project the re-score the movie. Unless I missed something?

It's a variation of the director's cut: a new contemporary soundtrack done with the full approval of the studio and director. With so many of today's films loaded with songs, such remixes and updates may become a trend.

I see. From what I can tell the director does not have much direct input beyond giving his permission, so would this not greatly compromise his original vision?

I would have thought so. However, it will generate more interest in his work.

The studio wanted to redo De Palma's SCARFACE with a new, rap-filled soundtrack. De Palma refused.

That must be the last time anyone gave De Palma final cut.

I'm interested in seeing if this becomes "a thing".
Must be a sad state of affairs when studios are going back and fucking up their films for an extra buck, under the guise of a "social experiment".
At least it was done with DRIVE. I couldn't care less about what they do to this film.

You're being, like, so closed-minded, Sharky. Imagine, like, if they used Jay-Z's music in, like, a film like THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER.
It'd be, like, so artistic. Like.
