I thought he was BLUEBLOOD. And then every time another new account was opened by a person who actually seemed to know what the hell they were talking about, I ended up suspecting that most of those were Auric as well. laugh

I've no idea what this Mi6 is that you're all moaning about, but Shark said I should come over here and 'fight the power'. Or something.

Since my "last post" at MI6, I have gone back to see if I can find members who we can entice to come here. I have found a few, but I haven't found the PM option, without everybody seeing what your conversation is. If someone can send a boat out to Daniel, Retrokitty, BAIN123 and danslittlefinger, it'd be greatly appreciated. We can't leave them stranded...

Oh and I'll see if I can message Chigawa via youtube.

I don't see how I can sexually harass Oppers and Rave unless they join.

Most definitely. Agent Leiter, 6of1 and Rave and Oppers like Ambler mentioned. Can anybody get a hold of them?

Great guy. Really knows how to run a site.

He wrote that in response to me. I think that was the thing that bothered me the most. Not the poor transition, the lack of answers, or the poor layout.

I don't expect anything special just because I have been there for almost 8 years. I never asked to be a mod or anything like that. But I felt that him saying this to us was so disrespectful.

To elaborate more:

I really don't know which way to turn. This seems like the best establishment here. Especially as it seems only the top members have come here it would certainly mean better discussion and all that.

I wouldn't mind posting at the other site, but it will never be MI6 to me. It is just a website I know, but I've been there for 8 years. From my early days as n00b and how everyone had to put up with my billions of crappy ideas for novels: Hiro Shigorou, etc. MI6 Fan Fiction Interviews, all the early contributions I helped made in regards to the John Gardner works, the Casino Royale audio drama.

I feel like it was just wiped from history. As silly, pointless, and, in most cases, crappy it was, it sort of stings that it was taken from us with no warning. If it had to be the case and we were told, that is one thing. But the surprise aspect of it annoyed me.

I backed down from confronting Page because I realized I would never get a direct answer. And I realized he holds very little respect for the community that WE helped him build. I've talked to him before and worked with him on a few projects for the site and he is a nice guy but his recent attitude has shocked me.

I agree it was farily humble - but after he told me about his hidden identity, I couldnt believe how I'd been missing the signs. laugh

That said - he's be some interesting company for this place. :)

I would like to say I love te return of the tricycle avatar on Ambler's part from Studio B.

I myself have just officially left MI6 Community. I thought I'd play it both ways -- maintain my ties over there while enjoy my friends over. But I popped my head into my catch-all Batman thread and saw this post: "is there someone that will explain me about what is this???" It's not so much that the poster in question didn't know who or what Batman was, it wasn't even so much the horrific grammar --- it was mainly that this low quality, chatroom-esque level of discourse was what I feared the new format would bring because it discourages people from taking their time with posts and being thoughtful. So that was the last straw. I'm here to stay.

I'm all for using this site. Makes me feel normal again.

The layout over there is downright atrocious. It even makes CBn seem easy on the eyes. laugh

And all of those priceless Ambler and Moore conversations... down the drain.

Well, since the REAL MI6 is gone, I guess I can come clean about a few things. They offered me a modship when I was there. I guess 2005-ish. But they got mad because I guess I said something bad and they revoked the offer.

To stick it to them, a few of us would tell people/noobs that we didn't like that they were mods. All they had to do was post "I am a moderator" in a forum topic and about how happy they were about getting the position.

Thus real mods and the "new mod" would become confused and argue about the situation.

Do I feel bad?

Of course not.

I thought I'd stay but to be honest, with the radical drop in grammar standards already over there, I think I'll stay here. I'm appreciating the new banner, the last one was crap.

Also in a forum that hard to navigate I struggle to see how I'd manage to avoid shadowonhertwat posting his stupid fan fiction in every F***ING thread he finds himself in.

Sorry, that's a bit of a sore spot.

eta: Can we just say f*cking instead of it auto-capitalising it? I prefer to pick my own textual intonation.

I'm starting to think this was for the best, the fall of MI6. I've been there for a long time. I felt that the last two years were starting to get stale. Mainly because it was getting more strict and less fun.

I can tell you that the few posts I have made on this site and the company of people here have made it more fun and engaging in one day than I have experienced in MI6 in the past two years.

Perhaps this was for the best. I think this will make a nice new home. Most of the people I enjoyed speaking to have defected, there noobs over there can have their nice new site.

I have to tell you, when I was I Mod I had to fight to keep the Star Trek thread open. Most of the other Mods, from what I recall, didn't like it at all. Thought it was distracting and non-productive. Ya know, cuz we gotta be real srs in discussing a series of mostly mediocre popular entertainment movies.

Little by little the fun was being stamped out. Censoring the word "bitch" made me wanna leave the site. I just couldn't believe it.

And I'm not liking the attitude from the "core team". I feel like we're being talked down to like children. "Oh, it's just a shock reaction. They'll get over it and come back". No. I am still a little shocked, but it's more a feeling that what was there has been poisoned.

is this why SG kept making those comments that resulted in you saying, I don't understand why people who don't like something post in a thread...?

i'm likely just reaching but somehow it doesn't surprise me that you had to fight to keep that thread going. To anyone else it likely looked a waste of time and everything.

Compared to the lighthearted, fun atmosphere when I first joined I found upon my return after very little posting for a year or so that it had become very stiff, oppressive. It seemed to have lost that spark. Shame, really. But I guess after a while everything has to have its peak and then collapse. MI6 was no exception.

I really hate the talking down. No only just acting like we are spoiled children, but basically telling us if we don't like it, leave.

Well, they are getting their wish.
