True. Just haven't seen Bond without a wider collar and that thin of a knot on his tie for a while.

I've got to say, I don't like the way Tom Ford cuts Craig's coats and suits. They're too v-shaped with the way it narrows in the waist. It looks odd. Like Bond's wearing a corset.

Not liking the scruff. It's partially white too... Even Moore at 57 didn't have white in his hair...

Something doesn't look right with the ol' face fungus and his hair. Going for the rough 'what's all that then' look.

I think Deakins used Alexa exclusively on IN TIME, and I can only imagine them needing 35mm film cameras if they were shooting highspeed (slomo) ... but most of that is done using a digital camera, the Phantom HD, rather than the old great PhotoSonics film cameras.

With you there on that scene. Some of the Man/Woman dialog also rivals TOP GUN for awfulness and laugh out loudedness.

It's certainly odd that they're just going along with it. It's especially surprising that they'd intentionally want to age Craig.

Seems like a sure-fire way to draw criticism from the general public. The scruff's unusual in the first place, and to boot it makes him look fifteen years older.

I wonder if the point is to make him look older? To establish that SKYFALL takes place a while after CASINO ROYALE/QUANTUM OF SOLACE?

Craig doesn't just have white in his beard - there's also plenty of white in the hair on his head, at the sides mostly. Otherwise, his hair seems much darker than in his earlier Bond outings - this is definitely not the Blond Bond of yesteryear. And it's surely his shortest 007 haircut yet.

It's all good, though. Craig is 43, and the makers of SKYFALL would be wise not to try to dress mutton as lamb. And if - as Harms suggests - the idea is to present a story taking place quite a while after the events of CASINO/QUANTUM and thus a seasoned pro James Bond, then this look definitely works.

Do you think they'll make it explicit that this is Grown Up Bond? Perhaps he's now lived through the sort of life pre-reboot Bond did?

I do suspect, however, that Bond wearing stubble is just somebody's idea of shaking up the status quo. Seeing what they can get away with re: changing the character. Testing the waters, looking for a reaction, trying to stir up talk, etc.

I think it's more likely that Bond's appearance will have something to do with the events of the film. Bond looks haggard, and the beard look both young and ungroomed. I think this is just going to be a case of Bond having been up all night working; after all, we know there is an attack on MI6 and/or London at some point during the film. We could be seeing a Bond who is pushed to his physical and mental limits - which hardly sounds like the worst thing EON could have done with the character.

Not digging the stubble one bit, especially the grey. But I agree with Armstrong, it's just to ruffle a few feathers, rather than make Bond out to be a seasoned pro.

I think the stubble has got to tie in with the the story somehow, but still Eon has made a deliberate decision to show Bond with beard for some reason.

Than again we saw this before in DAD.

Yup, but we also didn't see Bond walking around a city - well dressed - like we are with Craig. I'm sure it'll be justified, just like they did in Die Another Day, but I'm not sure I'll like the reason why he has his stubble.

Connery had stubble when he woke up to see Pussy in GF ... difference being, Connery makes it look GOOD.

Connery made most things look good.

But not a mankini.
