Except that the clapperboard shows this is scene 35, and bsed on other clapperboards, the attack is anticipated to take palce around scene 57.

Who says it's a scene where Bond has to be present? The story could easily play out in such a way that the attacks on London happen, Bond is sent on assignment, and then M attends the funeral. There may not be a need for Bond to go with her. After all, we've had scenes pre-Dench taht followed M while Bond was away.

Maybe Bond has dislocated his shoulder and learned his lesson: not to go to funerals with a sling over his shoulder. That'll certainly please a few fans.

Or maybe Bond is in one of the caskets. He was in YOLT, and I always wondered why they staged his assassiantion.

I found it nutty when Blofeld suspects "Mr. Fisher" is James Bond just because he was carrying a Walther PPK. Then his associates in disbelief claim "but Bond is dead", "it was all over the newspapers!", despite the fact that Bond's photo was displayed on the front page of those newspapers.

I get that. But the way the actual sequence played out suggested that Bond was at the end of an assignment. Both Bond and the girl knew it was coming, but they were clearly expecting different people - the shooters were MI6, but I think the girl was expecting someone else (though she never idenfitied them as MI6 agents). I suppose MI6 needed an independent witness to sell it to SPECTRE, but I always thought that it made more sense for the girl to be someone from Bond's previous assignment. SPECTRE was an alliance of itnernational criminals, so word of Bond's death would travel faster within the criminal world than without.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I would have loved the PTS of YOLT to play out like that of GF - a mini-assignment that ends with a woman in Bond's arms. But the difference is that it ends with the phony assassination, before picking up with the space plot after the titles. It would have really thrown the audience off-balance, making them believe that Bond was dead for ten minutes before the casket was retrieved.

I know, but still Osato had had no dealings with Bond. Its not unreasonable that he wouldn't recognize him, based only on a photo that appeared one day in the newspaper.

Now did Osata actually suspect Bond was Bond because of the discovery of the Walther, or did he just suspect Fisher to be a bogus salesman, because of the Walther. I honestly can't remember. I just remember that Helga had a very "healthy chest."

We've got the rather muted looks of Naomie Harris (fine looking, but not Bond girl looking) and Craig with his ass hanging out. WTF is going on with this movie?

This photo makes me think of LOST IN TRANSLATION. The melancholy blue of the swimming pool, a lone figure deep in thought, a Westerner exiled/alienated in the Far East (this bit of the film is set in Shanghai, I believe).... I strongly suspect that Sofia Coppola's film was a conscious influence here.

Anyway, a great photo and an intriguing vibe.
