I like the neon back-lighting. It reminds me of my home planet. The rest of the photograph is neither good nor bad. I honestly thought, for a split second, that the picture of Craig was a still from the next videogame. There's something slightly ethereal about the photo, as if it has been Photoshopped a good bit, but otherwise I have no complaints about it.....yet. |

But I have to question the authenticity of these reports: first of all, komodo dragons have been known to kill and eat humans, and they are very difficult to train. And secondly, why would EON tell the president of the club exactly what was being filmed when they've been so totally silent on the film until now? I've known of, and dealt with, the French Club for well over 15 years. Laurent Perriot, if he is still running the organization, has been a trusted, valued contact for a long, long time. EON invited the club on to the set of TND and TWINE. They trust him. They've used him and the French club as key contacts in France. They have produced dozens of beautiful, luxurious, full-color magazines that I collect (even though I can't read French). They've ALWAYS been reliable. If the French James Bond Fan Club says there is a scene that is going to be filmed involving a casino and a Commode Dragon, there IS a scene going to be filmed with a Commode Dragon and a casino. You can *BANK* on it. |

Couldn't EON get a whipround from the crew to buy him one of these? Fleming swore by them....

could work it into dialogue. Bond girl walks in to see Bond shaving in the hotel room bathroom. He half-turns. Girl: "Gilette?" Bond: "The best a man can get." |

If it's necessary for part of the story, then fine. If however, this is EON's way of pushing the boundries that little bit further with the 007 image, and he donns this designer stubble throughout the entire movie, then this is one change too far for me. The blonde short hair and craggy look I accepted, but now with a near-on skinhead, with stubble, this is pissing all over the creation Fleming visioned. In my mind, Bond should still resemble something like this - |

Girl: "Gilette?" Bond: "The best a man can get." My guess is that Barbara's next 007 will need this type of razor: She's already 'fundamentally transformed' 007 once: Still, the new "official photo" of Craig doesn't bother me: once you've accepted the shock blonde hair, the craggy, "rugged good looks", the blonde wig, the dowdy dress, the clutch of pearls, the lip-stick, the eyeliner, the pumps.....you're simply too far in to back out. At this point what's a little 5'o'clock shadow? |

I'm sorry, but you actually think that this photo was chosen simply because EON picked out you as the person they would listen to? Don't be ridiculous. The first photo released from a new film is always Bond holding a gun. |

It's already been clear from on-set photographs that Bond doesn't have the stubble for the entire film. - jet set willy wrote:

Of all the Bonds, you pick out George Lazenby as the visual standard? To each his own. |

I'm not sure what they were thinking when they chose this photograph, but it's quite clear that they were in a mad dash, a hurried-rush to find a picture of something, anything, to get out there and put it on the Internet to quell the gathering storm that I had been brewing. EON and I go back a long way. That was kind of one of the reasons why a certain somebody over at a certain other place told a certain moderator to please get rid of me because I, with my decades of Bond knowledge and connections (old and aging as they may now be) could blow smoke rings around the bull shit that he was telling the group as gospel, when it really wasn't. But I digress. - Quote :
Don't be ridiculous. The first photo released from a new film is always Bond holding a gun. Let's not kid ourselves. We know EXACTLY what the first officially-unofficial release was, and it was Bond in a pool, with his firm, lily-white, bulbous buttocks thrusting and releasing, thrusting and releasing under the sheer poly-blend fabric of his barely-there swimsuit, not unlike two muscular gerbils gently tussling under an afghan rug underneath a desert moon. Barbara released that first photo as an "accident", then tried to have EMPIRE take it back, but it was too late. Thousands of innocent eyes were exposed to that smorgasbord of flesh from the pagan sex beast himself, Daniel Craig, sending tingling feelings to the naughty areas of millions and millions and, apparent delight, of women and pre-teen girls everywhere, suddenly and without warning. I guess I'm going to have to say a little prayer against Barbara Broccoli. |

| I think the photo is fine, really. It's nothing special...but it's nothing to be up in arms over, IMO. I'm really diggin' the neon lights. This Shanghai sequence is going to look great in digital. To me, Craig's beard is fine. It's pretty light, and I think it's safe to assume that he won't have it for the entire film. Plus, it's not like he looks anything like this... It appears, however, that Craig hasn't had proper firearms training yet. My only other minor quibble is the PPK. It's nice to see it back for nostalgia's sake, but personally I'd rather see Craig carry the P99. It's a more realistic choice for an agent in this day and age. Besides that, I'm fine with this photo. |

| I don't see the big deal about his beard stubble. One of the earliest Die Another Day photos on set showed Brozzayawn looking like a complete vagrant with long, unkempt hair and beard while incarcerated in a North Korean cell. Seeing Bond with some facial here is not a problem. Wasn't there a scene in Skyfall where a whole bunch of guys, included Bond seemed to be harmed in an explosion of some sort? I'm sure I saw Bond in a back seat with his head in a bandage. Maybe that meant getting his hair cut to get stitches or something. It's not realistic to always expect your favourite spy to be in a tailor-made suit and with a clean-shaven face. That was his look for the past couple of movies. A little difference for some scenes is a breath of fresh air.

| Okay pic, nothing special. I do like the neon look the film will have in its Shanghai parts.
Judging by the pool photo and this new one, we know that Bond will shave his beard in China for the second time in the series.
Also judging by all we know so far, Skyfall's sequence will go something like London-China-Turkey-London. |

What storm? It was just you (and, to a lesser extent, Ambler) on one small Bond-related internet forum - which requires registration to view the forums, and EON is not a member. Saying that you were responsible for EON's tonal shift with this photo is a bit like saying you brought down the Berlin Wall because you could point to Germany on a map. - Gravity's Silhouette wrote:

Psst...Monkeys, don't take everything so literally... :pirat: Besides, as much as GS posts that image of Craig in 'drag,' rest assured, he'll be lapping up every second of Skyfall...even if he's dressed in a trenchcoat, dark shades, and sneaks in to see the film by paying to see a Bollywood flick instead. No need to get winded up so easily... :face: |

| I suspect as much about GS as well. I just think it's ridiculously arrogant of him to claim that he and he alone has started some kind of revolution among Bond fans that EON has paid attention to. It's utter bullshit - if he bothered to look at all of the first-release photos for the films, he'll see that the they're almost always of Bond in a pose with his gun. His entire hypothesis that Babs is ruining the franchise is based on his ideas and his alone, which makes it completely unproveable. If he really has the connections to EON that he claims to, then the least he can do is prove it. I know he'd be asking the same thing of anyone else who claimed it. |

That's stuff purely tongue-in-cheek. Gravy's got a persona he adopts online to entertain and piss people off. Ambler, myself and others have done the same in the past. |

You don't get 95% accuracy as a beginner. How is it a dig at Craig? I like Craig very much. I was just pointing out that he's breaking the number one rule of firearms safety: Don't ever, ever put your finger on the trigger unless you're 100% ready to shoot at someone/something. The finger should remain outside the trigger guard at all times (like Craig is doing in that picture with the Barrett .50). It's pretty much the first thing they teach you when training or handling firearms, and it's the easiest way to tell if an actor in a movie or TV show has had any kind of training with a gun. But, it's entirely possible that Mendes just doesn't give a shit about any of that and simply told Craig to pose for the camera and look cool. Either way, I made the comment in jest. Forgot to add one of these guys ---> ;) |
