| There is the theory that Joseph Gordon-Leavitt's character could become Batman by the end of RISES. I haven't followed the comics too closely, but I know that there have been a few different characters who have taken on the role of Batman. So I suppose a reboot of the franchise could see John Blake as the new Batman. |

Then how would it be a reboot? When a new Batman franchise kicks up, it's gonna be a fresh start. Nolan is ending his trilogy. And I wouldn't want to see some John Blake Batman movie anyway. I'd want to see something totally different from Nolan's films. And the Blake thing is a long-standing theory that I'd rather not see come true. If Nolan wants to end things, then end them. Whether it's Gotham half-destroyed and on a path to rebuilding, or Gotham saved and no longer in need of a vigilante. If Batman gives Gotham everything, like the latest trailer implies, then it should count for something. I think. I can see someone going out as Batman to make the public think he's still out there, but that's all I'd want to see of that, so that Batman would be more than just a man, a legend... and all that jazz. |

| I wouldn't mind seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt becoming Batman. He's a very talented actor and a good looking man (no homo). |

| Talented actor, yes, but right for Batman? I'm not so sure. |

Agreed. I'm not sure why people assume John Blake, if he were going to carry on the series, wouldn't simply become Nightwing. Why is the assumption automatically that he'd be playing Batman? And I'd rather not have a "reboot". I'm sick of that word. Find a competent writer or director (maybe someone who has already worked with Nolan) and give them the keys to the franchise. There's more story to be mined out of this interpretation of Gotham than simply what Nolan has done. Why reboot the series when, in all honesty, the trilogy will have produced 3 very good films? It's not as if THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is the equivalent of BATMAN AND ROBIN. The series doesn't need a drastic remake. Go with what is working. There are plenty of other villains out there that could be used: Riddler, Clayface, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Mad Hatter, The Ventriloquist, Mr.Freeze.... |

| Nolan really needs someone to fix his dialogue, and no, not his brother or that Goyer bloke. |

| The 2015 Batman reboot must feature Bryan Cranston as Jim Gordon.
But it'll probably be Topher Grace. |

The dialogue might need fixing, but the story structure of THE DARK KNIGHT is actually quite good. Particularly when you compare it to the previous first Bat-sequel, BATMAN RETURNS. RETURNS put Batman in a stereotypical "let's frame the hero" scenario, which is horrible because the hero will always rise up and prove his innocence. But on the other hand, THE DARK KNIGHT had the Joker trying to corrupt Batman by taking away everything he fought to protect and lowering him down to the Joker's level. That is a much more interesting premise, because it allows the characters to experience actual characterisation through a theme-driven story rather than RETURNS' plot-driven story. Yes, there was clunky and sometimes bizarre dialogue, but the Nolans and Goyer deserve credit for understanding the characters and creating a rather unique story that is better than the typical "frame the hero" fare. |

| So here's a fun thought. It's 1949, who would be in a tough, 90-minute RKO Batman noir thriller? For a director I think Jacques Tourneur would be awesome. Or Robert Siodmak. Music by Miklos Rozsa. Cinematography by Nicholas Musuraca. As Bruce Wayne/Batman... Burt Lancaster. Guy was a great actor in serious shape. But I don't know who for the other roles. Maybe Donald Crisp as Alfred. |

| I forget if it had been said here that Modine is playing Foley, not Nixon, which ties into the stuff released recently.

Nolan is writing the film. I don't believe this was confirmed. I thought he was merely shepherding it, the way he shepherded the new Superman flick. |

| I don't think he should shepherd it. It should have a totally new creative team. They need to find someone with a vision as strong and unique and Burton's or Nolan's. Maybe a guy named Fairbairn-Sykes would be a good fit. |
