| Daniel Craig has confirmed Bond 25 will be his last. https://beyondmags.com/celebrity-interviews-daniel-craig/?fbclid=IwAR1GAMIXnqMGTsMzLfMA4Ix5USQxbh0ftdHv8wbqIuZcvIuamEuLccf9Jwc It would have been good if he drops out now for Bond 25, but I guess it's wishful thinking at this point. Debbie, give Fassbender or Cavill's agent a call now. |

| It's actually a false article, hence why it got deleted.
However, Craig already confirmed back in Aug 2017 that it will be his last when he was out promoting LOGAN LUCKY, so it's not exactly news. Continue rejoicing! |

| There's been so much back and forth regarding Daniel Craig doing more than Bond 25 (well anything regarding this movie) it's hard to keep up.
I shall continue rejoicing. |

| Had a talk with our old ally Fairbairn-Sykes about studio politics. What we agreed on was this: AT&T should just buy MGM outright and make WB the new home for 007 so that EON would actually have a major studio that could finance and distribute their own films regularly (even better, home video Bond titles would then restore the original opening logos). MGM is practically dead at this point. It might as well just be a brand name for 20th century classics at this point. Somebody needs to put the lion to sleep for good. |

| I'm a traditionalist - I'd like Leo to stay and continue opening the films before the gunbarrel. Not to mention there's so much history along with it's great library of films outside of 007. Besides, that won't solve the problem that is Babs attitude to the series right now.
Ask FS to come say hi. Love to hear his current thoughts on Bond. |

| Yep. Must be part of a game Craig is playing to milk more money from the cash cow. Guess we wait and see. Though if I were Eon, I'd be commissioning Debbie McWilliams to start looking for a replacement James Bond and hire writers to start outlining the next one (once the current script is finally locked off ) to jump straight into Bond 26 for 2022. - CJB wrote:

| Brosnan knackered his knee when running during the filming of the DAD pre-credits sequence leading to a delay, these things happen.
The joys of being a 50 year old action hero. |

| Had a thought earlier... Martin Campbell said he really like Cavill's audition when casting Bond in Casino Royale, but thought he was too young for the part. In the lead up to QOS, he said he wouldn't do another Bond but in the years since, he admitted he'd like to introduce a new Bond actor. If Cavill became Bond, as many Bonds in the past have after talks to star in earlier films (Moore for DN, Dalton for OHMSS, Brosnan for TLD...), do you think it will tempt Campbell to return to for a final Bond adventure? He is 76 now but he's attached to direct another action/adventure film that's still scripting, and is currently in post for another action thriller called The Asset, meaning these types of films aren't tiring him out just yet.
Personally, I would welcome it. Firstly it would keep Nolan's hands off the series. Secondly, there would be no need for the faux grittiness in an origin story that pervaded his Casino Royale. Plus I think after so much experimentation with the Craig era, Eon might just want to crack out standalone films again without the headache of trying to join the dots between films to mixed results. I expect, with Bond 26, they'd want another GoldenEye (or Skyfall, when it was intended to be a standalone). |

| You never know, the lure of being the series' only director to have done 3 'debut' films might just do it. |

| I did wonder the other week during the Bondathon about Campbell coming back to do another debut Bond's film. That would be something. Even at his age I'm sure he still has the quality. A Dalton directed-Campbell would've been quite something too. |

| The thing to consider is that when he said he'd come back for a new actor that was over a decade ago. I don't think he quite imagined Craig's run lasting as long as it has. By the time a new Bond film hits production he'll be pushing 80, so would he still be game? If he's up for it, I'd welcome it. The only challenge he would have is to make a third film that lives up to the adoration GE and CR gets from audiences. I'd also want Phil Méheux, but given he hasn't done any work since 2015 I'm assuming he has retired, which is a shame because him paired with Campbell always resulted in gorgeous looking Bond films. - Hilly wrote:

I remember reading that Campbell said he wouldn't have accepted the gig with Dalton, so if he had returned for GE then Campbell might not have done it. That seems to solidify his interest in only debuting new actors. |

I believe he said he'd never return a decade ago, but at late as 2017 he admitted he'd be keen to return to debut a third actor: https://www.cinemablend.com/news/1709990/what-would-bring-goldeneye-and-casino-royales-director-back-to-james-bond - MP wrote:

Just did a quick search on IMDBpro and it seems he still is working. Has a feature and a short in post production and he's attached to another in development (though these films are sometimes unreliable indicators given the fragility of the movie-making). The fact he has two projects in post is promising though I doubt they'd have been 6-8 month shoots. He's 78 years old now. If we can get something that looks as stylish as GoldenEye then yes, I'd be keen for Meheux to return. If it looks as uninteresting as CR06 then I'll pass. Everything just looks so flat in that film. There's a romanticism in how he lensed GE. Campbell was supposed to shoot an adaptation of Hemingway's Across the River And Into The Trees with Pierce Brosnan but financial issues and probably politics, he's left the project (which was a passion project for him) and a female director has taken over (which isn't to slight her efforts, but knowing the difference between getting funding these days and not rests primarily on how gender balanced the team is (at least that's the case in Australia), then I imagine that played a big part in her getting the gig. With Campbell gone, Brosnan exited also. But when they were in the driver's seat, David Tattersall was DOP, who of course lensed Die Another Day and The Foreigner - also starring Brosnan and directed by Campbell. Perhaps he is Campbell's new go-to man. |

| I liked his non-CGI work in DAD. Didn't mind what he did in The Foreigner, either. |

| He's a good cameraman when not forced to deal with scenarios like the prequels. If it weren't for the CG and de-saturating in DAD there are interesting visuals throughout.
Campbell can do good work but post GE I think his filmography is very mixed bag. I liked Edge of Darkness 2010 and Foreigner but they were problematic. Mask of Zorro is the one most point to and what he skipped TND to do but while it's the best Zorro film in decades its only one of two in decades and the second was far inferior. Not to mention it's absolutely pitiful when compared to the 1920 original and 1940 sound remake versions. |
