I'm having a hard time picturing Assbender as Bond because the only thing I've seen him in is "Haywire" wherein he got beat up by a girl.
Well Craig dressed up in drag which is even worse and he turned out ok so far.

I don't care that he's 55, I don't care that people think me may be too old. But every time I see him in anything it reminds me that Jason Issacs has had my full confidence and vote since the early 2000's. I think he could absolutely nail elements of Book Bond and Film Bond. And most importantly he has years of varying experience in many different types of roles that could make for a seriously interesting interpretation.
I think Bond deserves an actor with years of experience-not someone simply young or a new face etc.

Thankfully I never saw that, Charles Gray in drag was bad enough. To make matters worse Assbender's character was pretending to be an MI6 agent when he endured the beating. Gina does look a bit like Babs come to think of it, maybe he was hoping Babs would take it as his audition.

Craig was also a wimp in both Layer Cake and Tomb Raider...

I've never seen Layer Cake and I don't remember him from Tomb Raider...I guess he must have been a real wimp in that one

Considering Connery was 32 when he became Bond I'm not sure that should be strictly adhered to. He definitely had 'old soul' about him which worked for the character. I think 40ish is a good number otherwise. It's all about casting.

Lazenby was 29 when he got the gig and was a good looking Bond. I think 40 is a bit of late start now if he's booked for 3-4 films...especially when they aren't on regular 2 yr intervals anymore.

I guess I'm hoping a 40 year old actor in their first film will kick Eon into gear and start delivering every two years!
Yeah, Lazenby had the perfect swagger for the role. As I said, it's all about casting. So if it a younger actor (30ish) has the qualities, there's no reason why they couldn't cast him.

Well hello...
I didn't know the guy who plays Punisher nemesis Billy Russo / Jigsaw is British. He's 36....
And he's no wimp either....

Looks more like a henchman than Bond. But then again, so does Danny Craig.

I'm telling you, it's not too late for Lazenby. I need a time machine so I can snatch him from the OHMSS premiere and inject him into Bond 26.

I think George had the strength to do it properly later on but if you really scrutinize OHMSS it is possible to see how he does come across as young. I will always swear Peter Hunt really performed a Herculean task in getting George to come across perfectly over the course of the entire film.
The first thing is that they must drop this reboot nonsense and just get on with it. The character is older anyways so why must it be a new face to play an extremely refined and opinionated intelligence man? There is no way the thug in a dinner jacket currently running around could order a fine meal on screen. For example just imagine how badly the casino dinner scene in FYEO would go if it was Craig running around.

Waiter: "What can I get you sir?" Bond: "Does it look like I give a damn?!" ... Kristatos: "You may have to kill him. Does that discourage you?" Bond: "Does it look like I give a damn?!"

I like Ben Barnes, but not for Bond.
He's best when he is playing slightly sleazy characters with a chip on their shoulder and a hidden feeling of inadequacy.

He's also been mentioned as a possible Batman now that Ben Affleck has vacated the role in the next Batman movie.

She had a minor supporting role in Nine (2009) and I always thought she would make an excellent Bond girl. Hopefully when sanity prevails for Bond 26, she might audition. I present the Italian Martina Stella:
