I keep saying it and I will keep saying it, long before Abrams took over the Star Trek franchise:
he is an over-rated Hack and it doesn't matter whether he produces it or directs it or writes it.
I said that way way back when he did Alias.
His stuff is just the same crap that been done before only flashier and noisier and more confusing.
Lost was a piece of shit!
I watched the very first 2 episodes of Season 1 when they were broadcast and I felt they insulted the viewer.
Mission Impossible III was absurd.
I didn't think anyone can ruin Mission Impossible worst than DePalma and Woo did but somehow, Abrams found a way to!
Super 8 was a cheap version of E.T. and even Spielberg got sucked in by Abrams' vile and evil charms.
Now he is going to ruin the Star Wars franchise too.
The two Biggest Sci-Fi franchises ever put on film and Abrams is going to ruin both of them.
There are only three directors talented and qualified enough for Star Wars Episode 7, 8 and 9 and Disney missed it!
They decided to choose style and commercialism and hype instead of substance and quality.
I hope Abrams is not going to direct all 3 movies!!

Don't be absurd, that would imply some kind of connection to Star Trek...

And Kirk would never say 'Make it so'.
Doubly ludicrous.

Did you enjoy the previous film? Looks like Abrams is trying for more of the same, while taking in a lot of the "darker, villain heavy" atmosphere of recent successes like THE DARK KNIGHT, THE AVENGERS, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and SKYFALL.
Yes, I liked the previous film, it was fun.

Ah, ticking those boxes I see. I had hopes this might be better than the last at least by default, but all of that just sounds like it could be worse. Whatever, it's STINO anyway so they can do whatever the fuck they like.

I think I am skipping this one.
You would think after four years that the production team would take the time.to look at some Trek that ISN'T the one they blatantly ripped off last time too.
They really should've just gone full BATMAN BEGINS on the first one. No reference at all to the old stuff. Linking it with time-travel just raises too many questions and plot holes because it means they still have to play by that old universe's rules, technically. Only way I can make sense of it is that Spock and Nero travelled back in time AND to an alternate universe.

That's how I always viewed it, the alternate universe. There was already too many differences in 2233 before Nero caused a butterfly effect, like Pike being 20 years older than he should be.

Han Solo fights Raoul Silva on a dystopian future Earth, I believe, while Silar and Neytiri make out.

From the screenwriters of STAR TREK (2009) and PROMETHEUS, a film that boldly goes into a new frontier of narrative incomprehensibility.

Basically a fan project by people who can't get cast in anything. OF GODS AND MEN looks worse than AbramsTrek.
And then you have the PHASE II webseries that looks nice and has terrible actors.
Such is the state of Star Trek.

The soundtrack is coming out on May 14, the only excerpts I've heard appear to be the end credits from the last movie.
That's my cents worth.

Captain Kirk says the b-word in the new trailer.
That should be enough to rake in the teen audience.

"Let's go get this son of a bitch."
That means Kirk is serious. That means Kirk is tough. That means Kirk is big boy. He say bad word. He kill bad guy.
Very dark. Very gritty.
