Not to split hairs, we should tell him that things can't be on his side so we need to part ways. - Mrs Aural Sects wrote:

Not to split hairs, we should tell him that things can't be on his side so we need to part ways. CR was a cut above the rest of us, anyhow. Plus, he's too busy polishing his basketball skills. He'd be hair today, gone tomorrow. Nice to have you here, by the way, Dog Bond aka Mrs. Sects. |

Well that told me. I'll flyaway then to prevent this post having any split ends. |

And I welcome Aural Sects. |

| You'll find most of the answers scattered around the forums but, to cut it short: Tux gets a PM simply stating "It's coming", seemingly with some kind of 30 minute countdown. As far as I know, only Tux got a PM, and maybe some of the Mods knew something or other about it. Tux nor anybody else seemed to have the slightest clue what on Earth "It's coming" referred to. So, while we're all scrambling around trying to figure it out (new avatars or new colours, I thought it would be), the next thing we know the forums go down completely and re-direct us to "some Facebook-type thing".
After a pile of complaints, we were given about an hour or so's access to the posts archive from the old forum, but all of the threads had just been lumped on top of each other in a big endless, virtually impossible to sift through "list", so unless it was a brand new post we were looking for, we had no chance of finding stuff we wanted to retrieve. The next minute, even that big unnegotiable thread list was gone too, leaving most members with next to nothing of their content from the old forums. It took us all about a week of complaints and brush-offs at NuMI6 to get even close to any kind of truth about why all of this had happened, during which time quite a few long-standing members had made their feelings clear, been either met with a standard "Look on the bright side, you can choose a new avatar"-type rubbish brush-off answer, one person even got an "If you don't like it, then leave" reply from the top brass, while some others just wrote comments along the lines of "Don't like this new layout, don't think I'll be posting here much anymore". And that was that, really.
As I said though, there's absolutely piles of posts about all this in the "New Member" and "Enquiries" categories on these forums, most of them in the "Refugees", "Beyond MI6" and "What we lost" threads. Plus there's probably still a pile of comments over at MI6 about it in the earliest threads set up there.

Dan, interesting that you have No.6 as your avatar, I recently bought another brand new boxed set of The Prisoner because I got all 17 episodes for US$20.00.
And I'm loving this new DD album myself...Too Bad You're So Beautiful and the Youth Kills remix of AYNIN are high on my play list. |

| Thanks for the reply Lazenby, I had no idea what went on at the original MI6 boards. Bit of a shame though to see what is has been reduced to...I'd rather leave that mess behind and migrate over here for the actual discussions. |

I'm a bit annoyed with the other "added tracks" though, I don't think they're up to much ( Mediterranea aside, though I already owned that track anyway). In all honesty, I think they had this album in the bag perfectly back at Christmas; The nine-track download, plus Mediterranea, there's a fine ten-track album to be made of that lot. The two one-minute "instrumentals" and the b-side-ish Other People's Lives I really didn't need, and I don't think the album needs them either, I think they take some of the tightness out of the album and draw it out a bit too much TBH. BTW, did you watch the DD Unstaged show on VEVO last week, DB? |

| There was a Toronto rock band in the 1980's called Aural Sects. They played bars and universities. They were contemporaries of such other great local acts of the decade such as Teenage Head ( 9 albums) and Stark Naked and the Fleshtones. All punk/rock legends of the vibrant dive bar scene of the day. Great times.
So welcome Mrs. Aural Sects - honorary spouse of the band. |

She could tell us more about her comics and porn collections. Plus Retrocat is a big fan I believe. Ok,... how does ambly have 344 kills but only 35 posts?
I'm not a fan of the dog. She was abusive behind the scenes. [snip] Feeling is mutual with the cat. I won't say what she was behind the scenes though... :) Moving on.... |
