-He had a bad dream. -The Jedi Council wouldn't give him a promotion to Jedi "Master" (and of course no one informed him that he'd have to earn it). -He was stupid enough to buy in to, "The Jedi are evil."
I'd have maybe written it to where a flaw of his is that he has a desire to control things, and he begins using darker parts of the Force that make him powerful quickly, tied into his overall inferiority complex at having been a slave. And it wouldn't help that he comes of age in a time of extreme crisis, where our heroes are forced to act before they can think everything through. But Lucas did it better.

Prequels? Apparently special effects technology. He got convinced around the time of JURASSIC PARK, I've heard.
I want to see a Prequel Trilogy released 1986/1989/1992 with some old school effects and a better story because he'd be forced to not do everything he'd want.
Yeah, there were stories in ENTERPRISE INCIDENTS in the mid-80s indicating that the prequel trilogy would happen as soon as VFX costs for realizing it came down. GL apparently was interested in starting them around 86 or so, but realizing all the senate and politics apparently was a dealbreaker back then.

Yeah, Lucas is now sidelined. He gave 'em story outlines and will serve as a kind of consultant, but Disney is gonna protect their investment.
Presumably, then, Lucas won't be able to tinker endlessly with the DVD/Blu-ray/whatever-new-formats-will-emerge-in-the-future releases of EPISODEs VII - IX.
Will he still be able to continue modifying the original trilogy and the prequels, or does this deal put a stop to that?

If he wants to tinker with the films some more, he would require the cooperation of Fox and Disney. In short, it would be a real hassle, and he would be depending entirety on the consideration of the studios. Fox and Disney have no legal obligation to indulge Lucas.

I am hoping for a good release of the pre-Special Edition versions. Disney is smart enough to release them. If I get a hold of them I can simply cash out from this whole affair.
So.... John Williams isn't getting any younger. Dude's gonna be 81 in a few months. It's entirely possible that he will pass away or retire or otherwise be unable to score the new films. Any idea on who would be the best successor? Not that anyone will fill his shoes, but we've gotta have music.
I'd nominate someone like Alan Silvestri. Or Edward Shearmur, based largely on his score for SKY CAPTAIN.

David Arnold is the obvious choice.

Someone at FSM even suggested that, without irony. :pale:

Christ, the thought of Star Wars without John Williams would be just as big a death knell to the series as the introduction of CGI.
well if Billy Dee's out of the equation, I'll pass.

I wouldn't hold much hope for the film in that case, though the prequels have probably put paid to any legendary or brilliant director getting on board. So, if someone says Matthew Vaughn is a contender, then sadly I'd likely believe it.
Can't Disney just remake the prequels and do them properly? Kathleen Kennedy must secretly hate them.

If Bond 24 turns out to be Craig's last, then 2015 could see Idris Elba up on double charges of "childhood rape".....

If he's getting it on with Moneypenny AND Leia, the boycotts will probably be calling for him to be blackballed.

That would make sense given he dropped out of directing DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

I vote Terry Crews.
You know, that one guy from that one movie that you probably saw on FX or SPIKE TV.

Still feeling indifferent about all this. Hmm, guess I won't really know how to feel about VII until more news rolls along on the director, writer, ect. It's all a blank now for me.

I'm excited. If it fails, I have a perverse curiousity to see how.
I think the world is a more interesting place with another Star Wars trilogy on the way.
