I haven't seen anything by the oft-mentioned Uwe Boll, but I'm guessing that guy couldn't be much worse than Abrams. I mean, does Boll at least understand that lens flares are an artistic effect, not a lifestyle choice? Honestly, they're not much different. The huge difference is that J.J. Abrams gets solid work in Hollywood and on TV, while Boll's name has been tainted for years. Two hacks, nonetheless. |

He's Whedon's twin brother. Them's fightin' words. Whedon is Harlan Ellison times William Goldman to the Nth power compared to the Square Root of Zero represented by Abrams' creative output. |

I wonder if they'll get some of the Pixar crew to take over. (Maybe Brad Bird?) That would possibly make this the best thing to happen to the SW universe since EPV. |

At worst it will be complete braindead shit on the order of the Transformers franchise and last two Pirates of the Caribbean movies. On the bright side I don't see how it could possibly be any worse than what Lucasfilm has done since ROTJ. |

Abrams slaps his name on whatever projects he thinks are likely to earn him the most buzz. Take, for example, "Lost". Abrams was heralded as the visionary creator of a cult phenomenon. Do you know what his actual involvement was? He directed and co-wrote the two-part pilot, and co-wrote the teleplay for the third season premiere. And yet, he takes credit for the entire thing. He's done the same thing with "Person of Interest", "Alcatraz" and "Revolution". The only thing that he genuinely created and deserves credit for was "Felicty". He's a hack who was in the right place at the right time with "Lost" and has been trading on it ever since. At least Joss Whedon actually did the work he claims the credit for with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel" and "Firefly". |

ICONIC space villain Darth Vader is to be brought back from the dead for a new trilogy of Star Wars films.
Following news that Disney has bought the rights to the lucrative sci-fi franchise and plans to make at least three more movies, industry insiders say the evil Vader will grace the big screen again.
“He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible,” explains a film mole.
“The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films.”
...
Possibly bullshit, but wouldn't put it past 'em. Darth Vader toys would sell like hotcakes. |

Possibly bullshit, but wouldn't put it past 'em. Darth Vader toys would sell like hotcakes. Is there any reason why another character couldn't "become" Darth Vader? Y'know, like the Bond series getting a new M or Q in. All that's required is the Vader suit and they're good to go. |

| Not really. I'd be fine with another character becoming a SIth Lord, but being Vader is a stretch. |

| Buzz around the Interweb seems to indicate Jon Favreau is the favorite to direct? And FWIW, Brad Bird said on Twitter that he's not doing Ep. VII. |

| Brad Bird, Jon Favreau, etc. seem very obvious choices, but Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand couldn't have seemed obvious choices for STAR WARS films before they were hired. So, who are the Kershners and Marquands of the modern age?
Then again, perhaps they'll go for obvious choices this time. |

| Episode VII: Revenge of the Golden Oldies could centre around the original tro of characters rather than the kids and Fassbender amongst others are being lined up...
