| Rumors are swirling, with many reports suggesting that an Abrams-style teaser is likely to drop before the end of this year. John Williams is supposedly heading into the studio on November 15th to record original music specifically for the teaser. http://www.theforce.net/story/front/Rumor_John_Williams_Scoring_Episode_VII_Trailer_In_LA_Next_Month_160550.asp http://www.jwfan.com/?p=7181 - Quote :
- The John Williams Fan Network heard from a source that Star Wars: Episode VII composer John Williams will be traveling to Los Angeles to score new music for an Episode VII trailer on November 15.
"JW received a trailer from JJ Abrams on Monday, Oct 20," the site says. "Still determining if the score will be recorded in London due to advanced age of composer/conductor. 14 hour flight to LA not too kind on 82 year old."
Jason Ward from Making Star Wars points out that Abrams usually teases his movies "with stuff not from the film itself" and that a Christmas release date for such a teaser seems possible.
"I have heard we would see the Star Wars 'kick off' really begin at about the one year mark before the film," Ward writes, "and this lines up really well with that." |

| The cinematography and visual effects are outstanding, even for a teaser.

| I sold all of my Star Wars toys from my childhood a couple years back for about $150 to a man in Australia. I don't know if they were for him or his kids.
I should have waited and sold them today. I'm sure there's some 45-year-old out there who'd be willing to pay $500 to own and play with them. |

| The world needs an easy-kleen inflatable Millennium Falcon. Should be ready for Xmas 2015. Just trying to work out where the three holes should go. |

| Looks okay. I'm just not into STAR WARS as I was a decade ago. When REVENGE OF THE SITH came out, I pretty much considered the whole series done, so it feels weird to have it revived again after we were told it was all finished... |

I agree. Between the pointless lens flare and the dizzying tracking shot that covers up the way nothing particularly exciting is happening, it was truly magnificent. |

| I feel some of the excitement I had moons ago for the Special Editions and Episode I and will likewise be disappointed. Good to see the Empire in some form, the remnants at any rate. I'm more looking forward to the soundtrack. |

| What's with all the fade to blacks in the trailer? Didn't they have enough footage for a proper 90 second trailer? I just realized that the only three individuals whose face we can see are a black man, a young white woman and a latino man.

I agree. Between the pointless lens flare and the dizzying tracking shot that covers up the way nothing particularly exciting is happening, it was truly magnificent. Lens flare? That was only seen for a split-second in the shot of the Falcon. Aside from the Stormtroopers bit, it doesn't look like Abrams' previous films. Of course, a lot of what's seen just came from the can, so who knows what it will look like at the end after all the processing and DI work. Just going from this trailer, it seems Abrams and Mindel are trying to stay more consistent with the other Star Wars films, rather than going for the kind of visual style they've played with since MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III. |

| I suppose the Prequel Trilogy will be due for a Special Edition in about five years. |

| I'm still upset that I can't get a solid Blu-ray copy of the theatrical editions. Because of that I've yet to see the OT on Blu-ray.
So long Lucas. |
