The cinematography and visual effects are outstanding, even for a teaser.
I agree. Between the pointless lens flare and the dizzying tracking shot that covers up the way nothing particularly exciting is happening, it was truly magnificent.
Lens flare? That was only seen for a split-second in the shot of the Falcon.
It was still there. And you know there are going to be more of them.

For the Star Wars fans, though this might all be total nonsense:

Poe Dameron. See Dameron run. Run Dameron. Poe-faced? Damneron...

First thing that came to mind was Nic Cage's Cameron Poe from CON AIR.

Nic Cage could be in a Star Wars movie. The make-up work needed would be minimal.

Plus, there's not a very high standard when it comes to acting in the STAR WARS films.

Germain Lussier over at /Film thinks it's "special". http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-force-awakens-trailer-special/
I'm almost to the point where I stop following that site. It's turned into real joke over the past year.

Don't know why this trailer has generated any real excitement. Kevin Smith compared seeing this trailer to seeing the EMPIRE trailer for the first time back in 1980. Arsekissing for a directing job on Eps 8 & 9, no doubt.

Smith has admitted he's not suited for big blockbusters so he just sticks to small projects (ie lack of ambition). His reaction to the teaser is just him being a big fanboy of STAR WARS.

I would have been more disappointed in Rian Johnson directed one had I not found "Looper" so very disappointing.

Hehe, of course nobody here would post the new trailer for THE FORCE AWAKENS. Guess Lazenby. wasn't around.
Looks fine. I'm still optimistically cautious though, given Abrams. At least we'll have John Williams to class up a blockbuster.

I think it looks pretty great. It easily tops my list of most anticipated blockbusters.
As far as Abrams goes...I think this teaser shows that he's absolutely going to nail the nostalgia-factor, especially for fans of the original films. Sure, he's definitely going to run the risk of playing it too safe, but I'll take that any day over the shit that Lucas put on-screen from 1999 to 2005. Abrams is a very marketable name, and I think he will do a great job of simply getting general audiences excited about Star Wars again, especially those who felt burned by the prequels. And after that, it'll be up to Rian Johnson to take the reigns, and I think that he's the one to really get excited about (I generally like Abrams, but a Rian Johnson-directed Episode 8 is a much more thrilling and inspiring prospect, to me at least).
Still, I do have some reservations. If you know where to look, you can find the spoilers that spell-out the broad strokes of the film, provided by a guy who has an impeccable track-record when it comes to Star Wars leaks. There's a couple things that stand out as major missteps, but I guess we'll have to see how it all works in context.

I have no doubt Abrams will milk out the nostalgia factor, and he's very good at doing surface level stuff, but beyond that he doesn't offer much. At least he has a much better team of filmmakers to collaborate with like Kennedy and Kasdan, as opposed to his usual Bad Robot goons like Lindelof, Orci and Kurtzman who always seemed to encourage the worst out of Abrams "this story isn't making sense, BOOM THROW IN ACTION BEAT! HAHA, PEW PEW ROLLERCOASTER", that kind of thing that plagued MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III and the two STAR TREK features.
