I never said I rate it OVER the original, it's simply her adaptation of it (which I still like, especially as it clocks in at less than 4 minutes...unlike the original)

Yeah, it's one of 1983's best...1983 is my favourite year from that decade by the way...the British invasion was kicking in again.

Love Garbage circa 95-98. As masterful as Butch's production on the record is, I agree, that stripped down arrangement highlights their songwriting craft.

Late to the party but I'm finally getting into the Cocteau Twins, although I find their early 80s stuff a bit grating.



Inarticulate world salad, but I like the combined effect.

Clearly I've gotten so old that I am about 11-12 months behind the latest songs or trends. Heard "SHUT UP AND DANCE" by Walk The Moon and thought it was an old 80's song, only to find out it came out last year (and was apparently a big hit).

I'm so out of trends and latest songs that I fear I've not heard of Walk the Moon.

Well, like I said in a different thread, I had to go on the road today so had a little time on my hands to listen to FM radio. The song SHUT UP AND DANCE, at first, I thought was an 80's song with maybe an Irish singer (I'm thinking BIG COUNTRY, but weren't they Australian?) but turns out it wasn't an 80's song (only kind of meant to sound that way). It came out in September of 2014, and they've been on THE VOICE, Ellen, Kimmel and Fallon (4 shows that I don't watch). Since I listen to almost nothing but talk radio, a song has very little chance of reaching me; yes, I am of *that age* now where I'd rather listen to talk than singing.

It's got a thunderous beat very similar to LOVE RUNS OUT (by One Republic) or CENTURIES (by Fall Out Boy). It's instantly catchy, and if you like good 80's cheese, this song (and group, apparently) is right up there with the best. Kind of reminded me of PSEUDO ECHO just a little bit (if anyone can remember them). It gets FIVE STARS from me.
