Just a catch-all thread for any semi-potentially interesting movie news that doesn't really warrant a thread of its own. I think we're all mature enough to know that there's a line between God of Carnage and The Smurfs in 3D. Maybe.
Anyway, the big news today is that Robert Zemeckis' remake of Yellow Submarine has been scuttled.
In spite of that article, much has been made of the mega-bombing of Mars Needs Moms this weekend.
I say: thank God. Maybe now Zemeckis will go back to his roots and make films populated by characters, rather than effects.

Agreed. That Yellow Submarine thing was the LAST thing we needed at the multiplex.

I'm going to see Limitless tonight. Anyone seen it?
I'm particularly interested because I attended a medical legal conference in Cuba in January and listened to a psychiatrist talk about the off-label use of ADHD drugs and such by university students and professionals. He was not particularly against it and mentioned the use of coffee and other stimulants. Funny thing was we had a morning break right after that talk and the registrants drank three times the amount of coffee than they did the day before or after at the same break.

Apparently Aronofsky's dropped out of WOLVERINE.
Apologies if this is already known, and carry on.

A director I'm not a fan of drops out of a project I have no interest in seeing.

Those news are a few days old, but also ace. Hope Aronofsky will do something original (pastiches accepted) now. It will be hard to top Black Swan, though.

It says something about my viewing habits that my first thought was of
One of my favourite films.

Yes. She might bite your cock off with her beak, in black!

For whatever reason, I've always figured that she's probably nuttier than hell. One of those broads who'd stick a knife in your back while you're sleeping.
But I still want to give her a ride. Maybe one day she'll make her way to my casting couch.

They never go sexy enough for Lois IMO. In the 70s they could have gone with Lesley Warren or Susan Blakely or maybe even Annette O'Toole, but we got Kidder. In that SRthing from a few years ago, they cast that stick-woman who gets way too much of the share of bigfilm roles.
If they were going to go Adams, why not go all the way in that direction and get Isla Fisher, somebody who seems to have near-infinite sex appeal to both sexes?

Adams is sexier than Fisher. And a better actress, to boot.

An interesting piece of shit they've got going here. Shame to see that Hauer's dropped down to such a low. I've seen this being promoted through out Internet Land, and some people are actually taking it seriously.
The industry's new menu includes torture porn, "deep" PC films, to superhero flicks. Take your pick.

That currently has a 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Looks like a fun, schlocky film that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Looks like it does to me. What's with all that portentous crap with the baby, and the whole 'dark and gritty' look?

I think the "pretentious crap" can be forgotten when they start decapitating people and smashing people with wrecking balls.

With an amusing title like that, it may have had potential as a fun and fairly light-hearted shoot 'em up, but if the trailer is anything to go by, it's got a superfluous "gritty" edge. Plus it seems like the characters explode in balls of ketchup every two seconds.
