| What should it be called?
Personally I'm fond of Kreme de la Kremlin. |

| I think after CR and QOS they should (and will) go for a Fleming title again.
I'm only afraid that if they'll choose "The Property of a Lady" now we'll have "Bond in drag" jokes all over the place.
But I think "The Hildebrand Rarity" really is an option, whatever it would mean. It has a certain ring to it, something like "The Manchurian Candidate" or "The Holcroft Covenant". I like it. |

| I'm a fan of Risico, myself, but I reckon it will ACTUALLY be Property of a Lady. |

Yep. I'm expecting Property of a Lady as well. |

| I think Property of a Lady is a fine title! Pretty much anything is better than Quantum of Solace. Except maybe Casino Royale 3: The Return of Vesper's Ghost or Quantum of Solace Part II: Brought To You By The Ford Motor Company or James Bond 007: Operation Omega Seamaster 300M or James Bond 007: Buy Omega Watches, Drive Ford Cars, Use Sony Ericsson phones and drink Smirnoff: Brought to you by Avon Cosmetics, Buy a ticket to this movie and receive 50% off of all Avon products, also brought to you buy British Airways, fly now and get a round trip ticket anywhere for only $100.....rated PG-13 |

| If it's called Property of a Lady, there better be a damn good lady in it, not some bubble-head bitch like Bibi or Rosie Carver.

| My favourite idea for a Bond film is that Bond has to protect a Miss Marple type of "Bond girl", and is of course stuck with her for the entire film. So if they call it "The Property of a Lady" they'd better do that. |

Pretty much anything is better than Quantum of Solace. I disagree. While QUANTURD OF SOLACE was a bad title, it could get worse. Titles such as 007 IN NEW YAWK, THE HILDEBLAND RARITY, RISICKO, and THE PROPERTY OF A LIFETIME MOVIE are all titles that feel like they've been pulled from the bottom of the discard pile. My suggested titles: DEATH WITH EVERYTHING NOBODY LIVES FOREVER ICEBREAKER PERMISSION TO DIE SHAMELADY SHATTERHAND DEVIL MAY CARE It's time to get back to some titles with flair and mystery. |

| I actually like Risico and The Hildebrand Rarity. They're unique to me I think. 007 in New York, I can live without.
They should absolutely use Shatterhand one day. |

I love the titles Risico, The Hildebrand Rarity and to a lesser extent, The Property Of A Lady. I'd choose them over any of the titles you've mentioned, if I'm perfectly honest. Well, maybe except for Devil May Care (which can't be used now anyway, which is a shame) and Shatterhand (I really think this should be either an Operation title, or a Bond villain's name). Death With Everything, Nobody Lives Forever and Permission To Die all sound terribly cheesy. |

Death With Everything, Nobody Lives Forever and Permission To Die all sound terribly cheesy. People who know me from CBn are going to be familiar with the rant that follows (so they may just want to skip on to the next post or thread): While I don't begrudge people their personal tastes, I find all of the remaining original short story titles bland. #1 The remaining titles are truly "leftovers" (and we all know that leftovers are almost never as good as a meal when it's hot and fresh out of the oven). In this case, these are all titles that over the course of 45+ years, EON deemed unfit to use, and even went so far as, from 1989 - 2002, of coming up with original, alternative titles all on their own. #2 A noticeable amount of non-core fans and mainstream film critics commented upon how poor the title of QUANTURD OF SOLACE was. In fact, you couldn't even get Michael G. Wilson or Paul Haggis to agree on what the title meant in relation to the movie. #3 I'm not sure whether some of the titles I listed are all that "cheesy". After all, a video game was made a few years ago called NOBODY LIVES FOREVER (no relation to the Gardner book of the same name). But even if there was a cheese factor involved, I'd take cheese over bland and unmemorable any day of the week. #4 Simply using these bottom-of-the-deck titles because EON is trying to 'go back to Fleming' and attaching them to Daniel Craig's films doesn't make the titles any more valuable. A pig with lipstick on it is still a pig; a gold-plated turd is still a turd, and no amount of quick action shots or images of a scantily-clad Daniel Craig coming out of the water will make the stench of a movie titled THE HILDEBLAND RARITY go away. #5 RISICKO is based off one character's heavily accented pronunciation of the word "risk", and THE HILDEBLAND RARITY is too difficult to pronounce; it's more than a mouthful. THE PROPERTY OF A LADY sounds like a movie that Lee Ann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian would be starring in on the LIFETIME Network, not to mention that it did form the basis of one of the best Bond films, OCTOPUSSY. #6 Bond titles should, when at all possible, be evocative, mysterious, action-oriented, or slightly risque. Ideally, they should be between 3-5 words; no more, no less. And, for arguments sake, I will assume that no one wants any more titles with the words Gold, Live, Die, or Kill in them. THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS is my favorite title. It's not too long, not too short, and it is hard to translate from one language and culture to the next because it means different things to different people. That makes it mysterious. SHAMELADY = mysterious and evocative. ICE BREAKER and SHATTERHAND are both succinct and action-oriented. You want a powerful Bond title (preferably with a verb in it), not a title that sounds like it was part of Jacklyn Smith's K-Mart collection (THE PROPERTY OF A LADY). DEATH WITH EVERYTHING just recently came to me when reading Gardner's DEATH IS FOREVER. I think DIF is too derivative of NOBODY LIVES FOREVER, but DEATH WITH EVERYTHING has a nice ring to it; like someone is ordering death off a restaurant menu and wants all the side items that come with it. It is my fervent hope and prayer that EON avoids using the remaining short story titles. They're just not good enough. |

| Personally I think "Risico" could be used quite well as a villain name - whether then you'd use it for the movie title is another question. - Quote :

Highly agreed - though I'd also add DEATH as well to the rather bland title words. Can't say I find too much mystique in SHAMELADY either - sounds like a description for Sandra Bullock. Though I dont mind some of Gardner's titles - FOR SPECIAL SERVICES might be a good ring if we're finally getting back the "true" Bond. |

For some reason I think of a deadly plant when I hear the word Shamelady. Still, it rolls off the tongue. It could be a code-name, it could the last name of a villain(ess), or it could be a behavior. I do like FOR SPECIAL SERVICES as a title. I'd also accept FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY, EVERYTHING OR NOTHING, and IN HARM'S WAY. Oh, and I really, really like THE DEATH COLLECTOR. Much, much better potential titles out there than what EON would have us believe. |
