Careful, Ed. It only takes two doctors' signatures.
Blimey. Must've been off me meds that day. |

Thank you. To me the title just screams Bond. And it doesn't require huge leaps of logic to explain to reporters, like QUANTURD OF SOLACE did. THE DEATH COLLECTOR could very easily fit into a script. Ex: Thug: Who are you? The death collector? Bond: (pulls out gun) Yes. - Quote :
I love THE HILDEBRAND RARITY but if they dare use it, it better make some sort of sense. I'm looking at you QoS.

Overall, there are some great titles in the Bond novels. I just beg for something to make sense. How do you mean "make sense"? I thought THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS made perfect sense to English speaking audiences and it was worked very effectively into the script, but the title was hard to translate, as you well know. So some countries ended up getting DEATH HAS THE SCENT OF ROSES instead. Conversely, I loved the title FROM A VIEW TO A KILL, but it was awkwardly inserted into the film, as was FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. One reason why I always refer to TND as TNL is because the original title, TOMORROW NEVER LIES, is a fairly good title (once you get past the Harlequin-romance-novel-sounding-cheesiness) and understand that "Tomorrow" is a paper, and though the title suggests it doesn't lie, it actually does. That would have made more sense than what EON ultimately gave us, and I simply will not accept their frivolous attitude toward naming that movie *where I can help it*. Also liked THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH and the way it was used, but they should have cut that dialogue off after Brosnan says "The world is not enough", because then it turns into a bit of a joke in a moment that is supposed to be rising with tension. |

| I'm a fan of THE DEATH COLLECTOR as a Bond film title as well. It's got a good sense of menace to it, it's from Fleming, and (more importantly) it's not one of the remaining short story titles, all of which would make for poor film titles.
In addition to THE DEATH COLLECTOR, I'd like to see the filmmakers further mine the Fleming chapter titles and use A WHISPER OF HATE as a future film title as well. |

| If it be The Death Collector you can be certain the rip-off junkies will claim it's in imitation of The Bone Collector. And pointing to Fleming will make no impression on their thick skulls. |

That's true, although I think we've reached the point where, no matter what the title of the new Bond film is, somebody's going to complain about it. There have been complaints regarding all of the recent films that I can remember, from nobody knowing what "Quantum of Solace" means, to thinking "Casino Royale" was a remake, to not caring for "Tomorrow Never Dies" or "Die Another Day" because they both had the word "die" in them. As completely nonsensical as some of these complaints were, they were still made and, in some cases (such as with QOS), were picked up on by the mainstream media. |

Glad to see I've won a convert to THE DEATH COLLECTOR cause. I would suggest though, Ed, that there will be no comparison to THE BONE COLLECTOR because it was not a particularly big box office film, and it was also released 12 years ago. |

| But wasn't THE BONE COLLECTOR a book by Deaver? Would be an odd coincidence. |

THE EYE THAT NEVER SLEEPS SHATTERHAND. These are best three IMO, with SHATTERHAND in first place. RE: WIN, LOSE OR DIE. I remember when I was 9, TWINE had just come out and me and my mates wanted to make our own Bond movie. I was going to be place James Bond in TO WIN OR LOSE. We shot a gunbarrel and gunfight (firing caps), but it never took off. Didn't help that guncrime was on the rise (Operation Trident), and soon you could no longer carry anything resembling a real firearm. Only spud guns. |
