Understandable. But given Campbell's interpretation that Bond is an antihero, that thinking should have continued into whether Bond smokes or not; he's not a role model. Always thought he should have been smoking in the casino with Xenia.

Smoking's bad kids, but coke is amazing. Try it while you lash your Mrs with an iguana's tail.

I imagine this was at Tamahori's insistence and I feel it's one of the few things he got right in DAD.

From that attitude to the smoking to CraigBond very obviously using alcohol as a coping mechanism in QOS and Skyfall. Hehehe.

Thanks for watching! I had always heard it attributed to Brozzer but it being actually Campbell would make more sense. This combined with an ever increasing industry ideal to not ever offend anyone right down to practically banning smoking in major films is likely what did it.
I think the cigar got through because of Cuban national pride etc. and it would be perhaps seen as insulting to not feature the country's most well known export.
The warning on tobacco in LTK's end credits is quite hilarious but I always assumed it was perhaps Cubby who had it put there to discourage kids from smoking as by that point the health risks were inescapable. Because we Bondians always stay 100%through the end credits even if forced to be asked to...

I THINK the warning on the LTK credits had something to do with the trigger for Bond's plastic explosive being disguised as a pack of Lark cigarettes, a real-life brand (at the time, don't know about now) ... the 'placement' of which apparently cost the Philip Morris company $350 grand.

I only just came across this. I love how accurate this is in how the GE64 game took minuscule moments from the film and turned them into full blown firefights. Like having to face a bunch of guards at the Miami hotel before meeting Jill Masterson. Like how they replicate the blocky facial features, I just wish they gave an option to slap Dink's backside before chatting with Felix.

My fried Daisuke who has already done some Bond related videos and streams on his channel invited me to do some video chats about Bond. It's very much just open ended talk about the series in general over Zoom but it went pretty well and we hope to do it again later. I made sure to plug the forums and hopefully we get some fresh blood in.
Really dug these chats, HGTB! I really enjoyed your appreciation for Elliot Carver. So refreshing to hear that on a YT channel. Have you filmed the next part yet?
I'll put two ideas out there:
1. A chat between yourself and Hilly discussing James Bond. 2. Ask Daisuke to join the forum!

Thanks! It was nice to do and hopefully make informative for newcomers. Also it was very nice to also talk about less discussed materials.
He's been doing a series of interviews with other channels and we're supposed to do a part 3 soon. I did just record a podcast for another channel last night which is usually about Laserdiscs and media collecting but since the focus was on Bond I got invited on. It premieres tomorrow at 7 pm central time:

Hadn't seen a couple of these before, eg. Desmond Llewelyn in the Heineken ad. I thought the relationship between Heineken and Bond only started with Skyfall to be honest given I don't think Bond ever drank beer beforehand.
And the one with Sir Rog is great. "A fine bird and a good stuffing."

The Visa one gives us an idea of what a Brozzer remake of OP might've been like. Had no idea Lark's tie-in with LTK extended to Dalton doing an ad for them (how quaint both a cigarette ad and the bad guy not being seen at the end of it as having survived the electrocution seem now).

Always noticed how Campbell replicated his shot from GE for CR, and decided to put them in one video. Makes me wonder if he gets a chance to direct the next Bond (Cavill) if he'll do it again for #007. Also, both shots are the first times we see those Bonds inside a casino. For as much as Campbell worked hard to make CR feel different from GE, it's interesting to see one of the few things he did repeat himself. May also have to do with having the same DP on both films too.

The first one is better. It's not over processed.

No change of heart. He's not my preferred pick. Campbell however picked him to be among the finalists for CR, so I would assume he'd pick him again if he were directing Bond 26.

Decided to do a fan edit: https://twitter.com/TimothyNoNoNo/status/1318809363759312896?s=20
I would say it's inspired by Marc Forster, but he probably would have distilled that brief clip to three frames, and that would have deprived us of a few more frames of Diana Rigg. I'm not that cruel.

Oh wow....it feels so wrong to have the modern editing flash in there and then hysterical to cut back to the clerk with his marvelous 70's beard. But it does show up just how biting Roger having a one liner there would be for Bond at that moment and is always one of the bits in the film that for diehard fans is a nice darker character beat.
As for the Campbell repeating bits-in those clips you can actually see the two distinct approaches of each production. In GE it's the "return of the classic" idea by letting the audience be able to soak everything in-but finding ways to jazz it up a bit here and there to give it that slightly cynical vibe that was so prevalent in the mid 90's. Here Bond is separated from everyone in spirit, outlook, inner voice, the external emotional armor, the suave persona of "I know the score and here are the no ****s given" In CR it's very similar, but very jumpy and cagey and you see how the background just drops away because no one gives a darn about the setting or feeling-it's all about get to the other side of the room like a freight train and the character is the only thing you're noticing as we just pan then travel down in a jumble. It has the effect of making the man seem swaggering, a bit egotistical and to be honest almost threatened to be overwhelmed by everything else. But then they will say the "it's the first mission" argument.

I'm not 100% sure but it's always good to see the instruments that make such things come together and do their respective parts.
This other chap has 'unreleased' music for OHMSS and FRWL and I think it's a good job. Gypsy camp was the first use of 007 of course in the films and the OHMSS medley is a nice touch.
EDIT, turns out he has the 'car chase' too...Any excuse for the theme
