Yes, I did think Ellie Goulding was doing the song. But my sources tell me that because she did “Fifty Shades of Grey,” she was out of contention.

Really? I would have thought her limited vocal range would have put her out of contention. And FIFTY SHADES came out back in February. How was it that she was ever allowed in contention?

Not too long ago it seemed this place was starting to revive into what it was with many members returning after it was restored from that "Culturcide" period with the Brian clones. Figured the whole thing with SPECTRE would boost it even further. Maybe not.

I'm glad it was Sam Smith's opinion of AWTD, and not Sam Mendes as I originally thought (just going by the quote that LS posted).

If Sam Smith produces something like Lay Me Down, I'll be fine with it, but if it's like most of his other material, I'm not so sure… Still, will wait to hear it… And not sure if I will listen to it when it gets released or what for the movie…

Better to just listen to it, that way you'll be more prepared in theaters if it's awful. I did the same with AWTD, listening it once and hating it then hearing it a second time in theaters only to hate it more.

Hmm ... well, we'll see how it turns out. Personally, I prefer the Bond song artists to have chalked up a bit of a longer career than Sam Smith ... maybe I'm old-fashioned, but with Bond now being the only franchise left where the theme song is still a big deal it feels like a prestigious gig that should be 'earned'.
