| I just it find it jarring when they try to mix the (somewhat tired) old tropes with the "serious" daddy issues crap. Also having James Bond as some sort of Skywalker/Chosen One figure where all the villainy in the universe revolves around his childhood (or Madeline's childhood as may be the case with Marat Safin) is just out of place and laughable.
Can I also just say that closing shot of the CGI Jeep flipping over and Bond half-heartedly firing a burst in its general direction left me cold and limp. That was the crescendo of the trailer? Compare that to the CR trailer which closed with the real, physical, tangible car flipping. |

- I'll have to come back to it again but this initial viewing of the new trailer left me colder than expected. I thought it was going to be a minor improvement on Spectre but I'm just not convinced anymore. It feels so Americanised and generic.
As for the score... Why does it sound so disjointed? I don't feel your reaction will surprise anybody MKKBB, it just seems you are determined to hate the film and nothing will change that. Personally i love the trailers and look forward to the film immensely...just my opinion of course, it might stink to high heaven but we will see in november (hopefully). I'm not determined to hate the film (I also just came off watching the brilliant Bonnie and Clyde and Midnight Cowboy. So when I saw the trailer after that I was so underwhelmed and groaned). I was more optimistic about the Danny Boyle idea because it appeared to be a standalone entry. As soon as Fukunaga said he wanted to return to the arc established in CR I knew we were in trouble... And these trailers keep reiterating that, with the "past isn't dead." It's the "dead are alive" all over again with a different veneer. FFS. And as an aside, the whole idea that Madeleine is used again to reveal the villain is naff. There's that hotel room scene in Spectre ("Name's Spectre") and here again ("his name is Safin"). Spectre II. - Moore wrote:
- A nice little reference to the Bond hero and villains dialogue from the CR novel.
I noticed that. Though with Bond saying in the novel, the dialogue than given to Mathis in QOS and now Felix saying it, I just wonder why they can't allow Bond to say it. - Moore wrote:
- With that said...knowing that the director had mentioned at one point forgetting SPECTRE ever happened, I am wondering if they may throw this all this personal stuff at the start for continuity, and, with the exception of Madeline, get it out of the way quickly and move on to the new story.
It won't happen. The reference to secret pasts and Madeleine's shared history with Safin highlights it will haunt the entire film. - CJB wrote:

Agreed, that's why I'll never be able to enjoy Spectre. |

| I find new Bond coming at the end of this weird, shitty year both reassuring and something to be looked forward to as opposed to something to gripe about.
Call me old-fashioned, lol. |

| Mr kiss kiss bang bang....Just curious, in a previous ranking of the films you placed QOS and CR very high on your list and i was wondering how those two films had gone down so dramatically in your estimation? The films are the same now as they were then so why have the subsequent Craig films tainted your view of these two?
1. Tomorrow Never Dies 2. From Russia With Love 3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service 4. The Living Daylights 5. For Your Eyes Only 6. Quantum of Solace 7. Casino Royale 8. The World Is Not Enough 9. Goldeneye 10. Thunderball 11. A View to a Kill 12. Doctor No 13. Goldfinger 14. Octopussy 15. The Man With The Golden Gun 16. Licence to Kill 17. Diamonds Are Forever 18. You Only Live Twice 19. The Spy Who Loved Me 20. Moonraker 21. Die Another Day 22. Live and Let Die.

They are. But I'm not. I was still a teenager then, excited by explosions and faux gritty pretensions that made me think of them as serious films. Also, I was impressionable, thinking I should like CR06 more than I did because it was so celebrated on fan boards. But truth is it never resonated as much as other films did - and continue to. |

| I'm looking forward to NO TIME TO DIE and hope it's as worthwhile as CASINO ROYALE and SKYFALL. More importantly, I hope for it to be a good send off for Craig's run, unlike the deservedly derided DIE ANOTHER DAY. |
