Actors/actresses you'd want to see in future Bonds

He reckons on Was It Something I Said? that the director wanted to cut his line. Truth be told I didn't realise that was him in FYEO. Nowadays I could see him as a government official.

But yes Hilly, could easily see him playing something along the lines of Tim Pigott-Smith's part in QOS. And Dance has been Fleming too, of course.

I see Idris Elba talking about it taking the 'will of a nation' to get him to play Bond...oh please Idris, shut your fucking piehole...there will be no will from me, your being cast as Bond is as miscast as Jason Statham being cast as Obama in some future biopic.

On the other hand, if he does want a Bond role so badly, why not make him the new Mr Big or something? I thought Isaach De Bankole (from Casino Royale) would have been perfect especially when he whipped out the cutlass to hack off Valenka's arm....that's the type of Bond badass shit we need these days hell yeah. Too bad his character was killed off, I liked him and his goon.

She was quite good in The Wolf Of Wall Street, so I pick Margot Robbie...

She was fantastic in Wolf -- she has the look (at least in the picture you posted) of a possible villainess.

Other than some top models being mentioned, I haven't seen any actresses of any interest being mentioned yet...I'm not too keen on Penelope Cruz although I could be swayed otherwise if someone (including her) convinces me she's it.

Call me crazy, but I'll love Gemma Arterton to return. She's improved a great deal as an actress since QOS (her performance in Jordan's BYZANTIUM was compelling).

I've been hoping she'd pull a Maud Adam… She's still young enough, and Babs has said she wished she hadn't had her killed off so quickly IIRC. Incredibly underused in QOS though I recently found her performance in QOS to be very stagey. Still, it kind of adds to her charm.

Side note: Yeah she was definitely the best thing in Byzantium

I prefer her a lot to Eva Green, who never seems natural or comfortable in her own skin. Arterton should stick to her Kent/Sarf London accent, the faux-RP in QOS didn't help.

Having not seen Casino Royale for quite some time, I'm interested to see how I view it, and particularly Vesper, on my next viewing. I have never not liked Eva Green, rather the writing of her character never sat well with me.

I had really come to believe that Jennifer Lawrence was just good looking enough, and beautiful enough, and obviously talented enough, to accept a role as a proper Bond Girl this time, and restore the reputation of the American Bond Girls that have taken a hit with Tanya Roberts, Denise Richards, and Teri Hatcher. Even put Kate Upton into the mix. But alas, that's never going to happen...not after all those XXX nude pix of these actresses and models have hit the Net today. EON can look at the list the hacker said contains the targets of his next illegal hacking scheme and cross them off from consideration.

Ehh.. I don't know about Jen as a Bond girl… I actually love Paris and dig Stacey and Christmas enough for them not to ruin their respective films. I'd actually use Lois Chiles and Halle Berry (though more for her character's writing than anything else) to show that the reputation of American Bond girls is quite bad. That said, I am in the minority when it comes to Hatcher, Roberts and especially Richards (where's tiffanywint when you need him?).

For an American actress as a Bond girl, I'd much rather Amy Adams

Perhaps not, but Maud Adams was not having to anchor her own franchise, and the expectation level for a Bond Girl of the 60's, 70, and 80's was a bit different. If the women hadn't already posed for Playboy, many of them did once they got the gig. But I digress. I think it was Hugh Hefner who said that the landscape of pornography was forever changed when Larry Flynt came along and started showing minge. Up to that point, men's magazines were mostly about T and A. But I guess it was Flynt who took it to the next level.

What I'm saying is that, I guess, we're about to find out if an A-list actress can engage in XXX-actress behavior and still be "America's Sweetheart', and suffer no real career repercussions....or have we finally found the line an actor/actress can't cross? Is there anything an actor/actress can do that would get them removed from a film project?

If Jen posted the pics herself, I think it would be a different story… But because she was hacked, I don't think it's going to have any repercussions on her career. Lots of people sext - peeps are probably feeling sorry for her more than anything else, because they'd be humiliated if people hacked their accounts and posted their naked pics. And given that she is a strong actress, with lots of awards and nominations under her belt, and a fan base, people are still going to want to see her. Give it a couple of months, and no one will be talking about it.

I don't think anyone aged below 30 sits well in Bond films. With the West's prolonged childhoods, they rarely have the necessary life experience. What I would like to see is some interesting faces - actors such as Om Puri or Ruth Wilson. People who stand out in a room yet have the necessary skills.

FWIW, I have no problem with Jennifer's pics, but I don't think she's right for Bond partly because of her age, but also because she's too well known. She should get the Private Photo Vault app for her iPhone, though. That and a new agency.

It's not like EON will spend the money to get in an A-list actress. So Jennifer Lawrence is never going to happen no matter how you feel about her.

Look at the recent Bond girls.

Skyfall: relatively obscure French actress
Quantum of Solace: relatively obscure Ukranian actress
Casino Royale: relatively obscure French actress

By that track record, you need to look for women who have a decent enough career in their home country but very little international/Hollywood exposure.

Two obvious examples I can think of straight away would be Louise Bourgoin (whom Luc Besson briefly championed as the next big thing) and Louise Monot (who already played a spoof version of a Bond girl opposite Jean Dujardin in "OSS 117: Rio ne répond plus").
