- James Bond looks set to return to a biennial pattern of film releases with just two years between the upcoming adventure "Skyfall", and its successor Bond 24.
Speaking at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas yesterday, Sony's President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer announced that 007 would be back in cinemas for the 24th installment of the EON Productions franchise in 2014.
This announcement is in sync with earlier hints from the rejuvenated MGM that the studio was pushing to bring Bond back to a two-year cycle, with the companies penciling in the holiday season (November/December) in 2014 for the next movie.
Bond 24 is also Craig's first 'optional' film from his original contract, which like recent actors before him, was three films and the first refusal at a fourth. Good to see some stability with Sony in control. |

 This is good news. Purvis and Wade are probably the scribes and should start belting out a first draft before Skyfall comes out. |

| Glad to hear that after the four year hiatus that EON is eager to get back to business with the long standing tradition of releasing a film every other year.

| This is good news. Even though I bitch about the Babs/Craig era, I do want them to keep serving up fresh meat, even if it might be a tad rancid.
At least we get fresh Bond-girls to go ga-ga over. |

| With 24 being officially confirmed, perhaps this section of the forum should be separated. Bond 24 (2014) and Bond 25 and Beyond. |

Seeing as we probably won't know anything about it until mid to late 2013, a separate forum for B24 would be a graveyard. |

I'd say the proper time might be for it to happen when SKYFALL is released. Official news will be quiet of course but I can imagine by that point there will be plenty of threads on the anticipation of what happens on the next entry, while the B25 Beyond section focuses on more broad topics like "who will be Bond #007", "Will 006 return?", "Is Clive Owen replacing Craig?" |

| The big question is whether or not Sam Mendes will return to direct another one. EON seems to be over the moon with him (or at least Babs does, given that she's making comments that she feels they really have made the best Bond film ever with SKYFALL).
If not, who do they get as a follow-up? |

| I remember Babs and DC hyperventilating over Forster, too, begging him to return for another go at Bond--so to speak. They seem since to have cooled on Forster. Considerably. |

| As an aside, this news strongly suggests that either DC is returning for a fourth or Micolli already have his replacement in tow. |

James Bond's next outing has been confirmed for 2014.
Sony Pictures has confirmed that it is planning a 24th Bond film to follow the forthcoming Skyfall.
President of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer revealed the plans for the next movie during a screening of a teaser trailer for Skyfall at CinemaCon, reports ComingSoon.net.
The trailer revealed a series of quick-cut sequences from star Daniel Craig.
It also featured Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes, but co-star Javier Bardem was not in evidence.
The teaser reportedly concludes with Craig saying: "Some men are coming to kill us. We've got to kill them first."
Craig has said that he intends to continue in the role of the famous spy until he is told to stop.
Directed by Sam Mendes, the 23rd Bond movie Skyfall is due to hit cinemas on October 26, 2012. The first theatrical trailer for the movie is expected next month.

Yeah, at the time, they were very enthusiastic about Forster. But I believe they've asked a lot of directors back. I wonder if Mendes will actually say yes, given the relatively tight schedule and super-long shoot. - Perilagu Khan wrote:

Craig has pretty much said he'll be around for a sequel. |

| Yeah, the only director they never asked back was Tamahori. It would be kind of refreshing for a director return for a consecutive film, at least that would suggest one is very much engaged with the Bond stories enough to. But Sam Mendes? We'll see I guess. |

| They asked back Tamahori, actually, but dropped him after they went for the "reboot" aspect. |

| Was there someone who wasn't asked back? I thought one of them wasn't. I know Campbell felt he had his say at the time after GE (and again after CR). Apted found the process overwhelming. Forster would only do another action film again if he created his own series. What was Spottiswoode's? |

| I think that was Spottisdick. Babs and Dench tried to run him down in their car once, IIRC. |

| Spottiswoode and EON didn't really get along. TOMORROW NEVER DIES was rushed, and I think he had a pretty unpleasant time. |

I have a pretty unpleasant time watching the film. As for Mendes coming back... If SKYFALL focuses on drama, I'd bet he'd want another dramatic Bond film for Bond 24. Frankly, I'd prefer someone (this won't be popular) in the Guy Hamilton circa GF mode. Someone skilled and with a sense of humour. I'm not saying I want a film like GF per se, I just mean someone with a healthy sense of humour who won't see this as an art movie, but also not just some bland action director like Campbell. Anywho, this is about Bond 24 in 2014. We'll see if they hold to that. I wonder if we'll ever got an odd-numbered year Bond film again. |

| We'll see. It was Sony that made the announcement. MGM previously (when it filed its reorganization plan in bankruptcy court) said it also wanted to return the series to an every-other-year schedule. We have yet to hear someone from Eon on the subject. Still, Sony and MGM signing the checks and they *want* a new movie in two years.
If they do intend to meet that kind of schedule, some work about a story (not necessarily a first draft or even a completed outline) should be underway this fall. Perhaps Michael G. Wilson will avoid the temptation to say how exhausting making a Bond movie is.

As a big Edgar Wright fan, I'd love to see what he'd come up with (he would certainly bring a lighter touch). Alas, EON would never go for him, certainly not as a follow-up to Mendes. And I guarantee you we're not going to get a drama-light Bond film while Craig's around. |
