That's 74 days from now. There are 65 episodes, so if you want to watch one a day you'd better start but quick.

I did a run last month around Christmas. I'll probably just do S4 and S5 in the days leading up to S6. I gotta chain watch it. Can't do an episode here and there.

Perhaps the two-part premiere will be set closer to S5, and the rest much later.

Cool, gonna start my run pretty soon then! Because I was binging episodes last year, a lot of the show kinda blurred so it's hard to remember much of it besides the big points like the establishment of SCDP, that asshole comedian and other bits. I wouldn't dwell too much on a episode after finishing it like with S5, I'd just jump right onto the next episode. Did the same thing with BSG in its first four and half seasons. Looking forward to seeing the show grow again.

Yeah, my real appreciation came from rewatching it. You'll probably cringe at the pilot, though.

I actually rewatched the pilot after the S5 finale. It was like as if all the male characters took notes on how to be gentlemen by Mel Gibson.

But it's got that great ending. Wish I had seen it when it aired and been like, "Holy shit, this guy has a wife!"

And kids! I was fortunate enough to be pretty spoiler free about MAD MEN when watching that the first time.

Sounds cool. I am anticipatory.

For the hell of it, I watched "The Phantom". It's still hard to say what I think of the episode. Certainly "The Other Woman" and "Commissions and Fees" are the climax of S5, and this is the denouement. Viewing it apart from the rest of the season, I thought it held up a little more on it's own. I think I've said it before, but I have a feeling that seeing S6 will put this episode into better focus.

I love that even Weiner recognizes the last ten minutes are the best part.

Going through S5 with a mind on dates. So far agreeing with Tux's surmises posted earlier.

Still can't place "Far Away Places" other than "sometime in August", but I managed to get "At the Codfish Ball" to September 28-30, thanks to Heinz's line about having seen the latest Edward Albee play on Tuesday.

I saw it when it first came out, unspoiled. I saw the wife and kids coming a gazillion miles away.

I think it was the cherry on top of the cake of obviousness that is the pilot that totally turned me off the show for eight months.

Another challenge is "The Phantom". Dates early in the episode can be locked down I'd imagine, but not the last scene that I can tell.

Honestly, I might have picked it up as well. I just like that it's not revealed until the end, at least the idea of it.

Re: Christmas Waltz. My theory is that we dont get many Hamm/Hendricks scenes precisely because their chemistry is so good it overshadows everything else.

Season 6 secrets are starting to come out, including the premiere's title, "The Doorway".

Sounds pretty soapy.

Mad Men has always been pretty soapy.

My dad stopped watching it halfway through the first season because it was "too soapy", whereas my mom loves it.

It's well-written, that's what matters to me. "Soapy", to me, indicates something cheap. MAD MEN has a lot of features of a soap, but it's a lot more literate. Though I do call it "my stories".

Yeah, but...

1. Seeing as SCDP has Mohawk (and it's been a subplot in S5) it's too big an event to bypass IMHO, unless it's mentioned as having happened months prior, which is possible on this show.
2. With the company on the upswing at the end of S5, this would throw an interesting wrench into things.
3. The plot description I linked to says, "Don spearheads a new campaign", which could fit into this story. It would certainly put the firm on it's toes.

Because S5 ended with the firm doing financially well I kinda want that to continue for a while. We've already gotten two seasons of SCDP struggling, lets see them flush. Lets see all these characters get what they want and STILL be unsatisfied and unhappy.

Oh, I totally agree. I don't want anything very damaging to the agency. I want to see times of plenty. Trouble in paradise.

I'm still interested to see what happened with Dow.

I loved that scene. It was just nice to see Don wanting something and going for it with drive again after what seemed like two seasons of unproductive malaise.
