Wow, Daniel Craig is back!
I am though appropriately "excited" at the prospects of another good hard-edged action flick to watch this November. Does look like a tough, violent, action film, but so does The Bourne Legacy. The pair of films might make a good 2012 spy-thriller double bill.
Craig though does seem to be growing more comfortable with this derivative James-Bond-similar persona that he has created. This could at least be the most entertaining entry, in the new alternative-Bond film series, that launched in 2006 to replace the old series.
I am pumped!!!! I can see SF ranking 21st on my Eon-Bond list, but potentially #1 on the Eon alt-Bond charts! Awesome! :rendeer:

Looks like a f*cking angry farmer rather than James Bond. It'll also probably rip off the Bourne/Clive Owen field shootout from Bourne Identity.

With the tedious inevitability of an unloved season, Laz arrives to trash the trailer. ;)

Combined with the "Think on your sins" message and Bardem's statement that Silva is clearly a villain but that viewers will understand what he's doing, I'm getting the impression that Silva is some sort of Third World avenger bent on harming England for some act in the Cold War. This also gibes with Silva's gray hair which suggests he is old enough to have been alive and well during the Cold War. If I'm correct, SF could well be going down the same political path as QOS.
Except that the man espousing these talking points is a psychopathic, peroxided, pervy, freak, with a thing for chequered ties - not Bond and Felix over a pint in a Bolivian bar. Not much more political than "ZA VEST ISZZ DECADENTT!!!" - courtesy of General Orlov or Trevelyan's snide remarks to Bond in GE. They get their comeuppance.
We shall see. At any rate, I hope Bond gives as good as he gets verbally and intellectually. All too often since '95 Bond has been hangdog and on the defensive. Just once I'd like to see him rip some feminist or post-colonial tripe to shreds.

Unfortunately, M (as she does), lost the drive containing the emo confrontation between Bond (stuck to a chair in some f*cking bland beige place, ring any bells?) and Silva. It goes like this:
Silva: Mommy was very bad
Bond (starts crying): Where's M?
Silva: Soon she'll be everywhere
Bond: Wanker
Silva: We all have our hobbies. What's yours?
Bond: Resurrection
Silva: Resurrection? No Mr Bond, I expect you to die
Bond: You must be joking. That's an old line from Goldfinger
Silva: It's a reboot
Bond: Oh shit, yeah
Silva (looking up): Wow... What a sky... to a fall
Bond: Skyfall?
Silva: Foolish sentiment
Bond: Family motto
Silva (grabs Bond's todger): Three more turns and your dick will break
Bond: Ha ha, now the whole world will know you died scratching my balls
Silva: M never told you what happened to your mother
Bond: She told me enough. She told me YOU killed her
Silva: No... M is your mother
Bond: No... That's not true... That's (looks at the scriptwriter credits)....Holy shit, I should have known. Sorry mate, it's true
Silva: And guess what mate, I'm your brother
Bond: Oh, for f*ck's sake....
Silva: I heard M made you wear a dress and humiliated you
Bond: We all have our hobbies
Silva: Right. I'm buggering off to unsettle the oil and water supplies and pipelines of the Bolivian Government... or is it the Turkish government? Or the South China Sea? Oh f*ck it, either way it's something somewhere that nobody really gives a shit about, but it makes the script sound intelligent and topical
Bond: Don't forget to blow some shit up as well. Keeps us down with the kids. Silly gadgets as well
Silva: Shame you don't have any gadgets right now.... MEEESTA BOND
Bond: Well, perhaps you haven't taken into account my... hidden assets
Bond pulls a gadget gun out of his arse and shoots himself free from the chair. Bond and Silva fight and fall into some crappy big water set, where they have a rubbish CGI-assisted final fight. Bond spots the Bond girl drowning as usual, saves her and kills Silva by pressing some stupid button or other. Bond shags M on a boat, credits roll.

Scary thing is, you may not be far off, with some of this. This story could turn out to be very weird, and not in a good way -- more in a very whacked way, if they delve into any M, Bond, and Silva family connections.
Who the heck is this Silva nutjob anyway? In the trailer he comes across as both Hannibal Lecter in a cage. (Does he bite or something? I hope Jason Statham, I mean Craig-Bond's tetanus shot is up to date). And when he's loose, Heath Ledger as Joker comes to mind.

The scraggly hair of the silhouette walking away from the burning lodge would point towards that. There's a smattering of TDK influence, no doubt.
The trailer seems to strike the right balance of giddy thrills while suggesting at some sort of attempt at... themes and characters 'n stuff. I quite like it. Especially the camp lunacy of what's seen from Bardem.
It does seem very TMWTGG (novel).

I guess Lazenby has called it.
Despite the apparent promise of the trailer, Skyfall is going to be an even more derivative disaster than DAD was.
Thanks, Laz - you've saved me fifteen bucks.
Perhaps we can meet up on premiere night, and instead of attending we can have a few drinks together and talk about how dreadful the film is, then hang about outside a theatre and tell emerging patrons - from our perspective as informed authorities - how wrong they are for liking what they saw.
Maybe I'll catch SF on Netflix sometime, as long as it's a free promotion or something. There's no way I'm going to pay good money to watch this sh**e.
And to think, in different hands it could have had potential.

With Silva I'm getting reminders of Tom Hallander's villain in HANNA.
Though obviously less effeminate.

You know what? I'm going to see SKYFALL. And even if it's another DAD, I'm going to enjoy it just to spite him.

Okay, now that I've seen it a few times, I have to say I like the trailer. I particularly liked Bardem's "Mommy was very bad" taunt, which I'm guessing is a nod to the fans who feel that Bond and Dench's M have the wrong kind of relationship. His hair, however, just looks weird (though the shot of it whipping about in the night looked great).
I did feel that it was a bit long, though. The trailer wandered a little bit too much; there was a lot of emphasis on Bond's supposed death, and then we're cutting to Bardem and wrapping up with shots of explosions and stunts, so the whole thing comes across as a little disjointed.
