| Now this is one that might be a reach, the act of a desperate man but it struck me a moment or so ago Craig's reaction to Kincade's shotgun test (hole in wall) akin to Lazenby's after the boffin throws the potion at the glass partition.
Still, it's been a week since I saw Skyfall so memory might be playing tricks. |

| Bond to Q : "You must be joking." A reference to Goldfinger of course.

| Bond careening down a waterfall, apparently dead reminds one of the death of a Double 0 agent in Octopussy. Silva's death by throwing knife also reminds one of that very scene.
Subterranean London recalls subterranean Istanbul in FRWL.
Bond tied to a chair helpless before his enemy harks clearly to CR.
PS--I suspect a great many--but not all--of these are coincidences rather than homages. |

| One I thought might be in some way but is likely a conincidence is the number of the bag Bond gives the Q-lab bloke, 13111975.
I thought maybe it was a premiere date for TMWTGG but unless it's the date Saltzman sold up his part in Eon in 1975 just a meaningless collection of numbers that happen to form a date 13-11-1975.
That and thanks to Blunty, the 1962 label on the bottle seemed to leap out this time round :) |

| TMWTGG opened in December, 1974 - Dec 19th in my area, IIRC.
I have no theory as to the number's significance, if there is any. |

Noticed for the first time yesterday (and I've seen it a helluva lot more than I've seen Skyfall) that there are Zorin Industries crates in the 'freezer room' in the tie-in Heineken ad. |

| Saw it again on Friday night, and noticed a few things. Of course, I can't remember them now!
Except for - when Tanner is showing Bond the new MI6 HQ, Bond says, "That's putting it mildly". Which reminded me of Bond in the confessional - "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned - That's putting things mildly, 007 " in FYEO |

Agreed. And maybe not even coincidences, as that implies that it involved genuine talent on the part of the writers to come up with ideas on their own that they didn't realize had already been used in other Bond movies. For example, MI6's ability to give Bond his first real lead to Silva via an analysis of the bullet fragments found inside his shoulder (which leads him to Hong Kong) are strongly reminiscent of THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, where Bond uses Q's analysis of the bullet that killed a fellow 00-agent to either Macau or Hong Kong (can't remember which). I don't really mind if some of these ideas get recycled or reused if they are done so smartly. After 23 Bond movies, it's safe to say that there probably are no absolutely fresh and original ideas. Somewhere, somehow, some way, some other Bond film or some other action series has probably done a stunt that serves as the basis for a current or future Bond stunt. Having said that, I'd love to see a snow mobile chase/shootout similar to what Gardner wrote in ICEBREAKER We've never had that in a Bond film (the para-gliders in TWINE don't count, as Bond was on skis, and they were on parachutes at first). |

| Bond with the scorpion on his drinking hand--Bond with a tranny (and I don't mean Grey's Blofeld) on his chest in DN. A bit of a stretch, but there you go. |

Imagine a furiously fast-paced snowmobile chase through the frozen forests of Norway or Finland...Bond weaving in and out among the trees...dodging bullets...jumping over ravines and shooting through snow tunnels. Lot of great action that could be staged in the snow; seems like a bit of a wasted opportunity. |

| We did a bit, Khanners, 'tis true ... but I'd still like to see something along the lines of what Gravy describes there.
Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan all had their moments in the snow ... hell, Craig's is almost overdue! |

| A couple more possibilities:
At the casino in Macau, Bond tells Eve not to touch her ear. Bond gave the same instruction to Carter in CASINO ROYALE.
During the London Underground chase sequence, Q tells Bond to put his back into it. Bond told Rosamund Pike to put her back into it in DIE ANOTHER DAY. |

| Just the presence of the scorpion, references DAF, both the book and the film.
The first shot of Severine in the shower immediately reminded me of the shot of Andrea Anders behind similar opaque glass in her shower scene.
Craig's "A View" utterance also instantly brought Zorin's "A View to a Kill" line to mind. I almost mouthed it out loud in the deathly quiet theatre, but I caught myself. Whew.
===
I do think most of these references are by design. Mendes and Craig had a lot of down-time before filmming, because of the MGM impasse, to review the canon.
Skyfall does seem to consider itself quite the clever little film, although I think at some point we are going to need a thread to make sense of all the plot and story issues. There's a lot of stuff that seems to happen too conveniently or without plausible explanation, but that's another thread. I'd need at least a second or third viewing of intense concentration, mabye with even a note-pad, to make sense of what was going on here and there. |

| Not strictly a homage, but Q has a Q letter Scrabble mug. You can see it when he and Tanner are laying the digital breadcrumbs to lure Silva to Skyfall.
Also, I counted 3 Heineken spots (Bond drinks one, Tanner drinks one, and the hotel bar is stocked with them), but didn't see a single Coke Zero. |

| Bond's shaky hand when holding up a gun reminded me of Fleming's description of Bond's hand getting the shakes in The Man with the Golden Gun, something like "his hand asleep like a dog dreaming of chasing rabbits", waiting for it to snap out of it. |
