It all sounds quite interesting and the mention of Hitchcock seals the deal. I'll have to look about and see if I can find them. There's a secondhand bookshop off the coast that is liable to have it when I go to uni'.

They are massively enjoyable and addicting. The first stories were written by Robert Arthur who also wrote all the Hitchcock portions as well under license. I would suggest starting with the earliest stories if possible but you could really choose any book. Any of books 1 through 4 will give you the relevant series universe but the titles alone should indicate they aren't your average mystery story. My first one was book three where I saw Hitchcock's name on a children's book in a library called The Mystery of the Whispering Mummy. I was hooked immediately. Thanks for the link. When things get back to normal here, I can get properly going.
An aside, is I broke from the norm and did an IPCRESS commentary last night but I'm not mad on it. I recorded it as audio but turned up the film a touch and so you hear it (no different to the Bond ones), other background crap from oiks briefly and whatever. I'll upload what I have. Trouble is, lockdown or not, it's giving up time to do it -not that I mind but I like doing it the once and hell with it. Anyway, that's that end.

Already checked out some. I enjoy whenever anyone discusses it so thanks for recording.

No worries, thanks for checking it out. I'm tempted to do some more non-Bond whilst in lockdown. Where Eagles Dare perhaps.
I see you have one for book collecting. I need to check that out. I for whatever reason collect different editions of Raise the Titanic, like 'unique' books like movie tie-ins/based from's (e.g Poseidon Adventure, Beyond the Poseidon..., Jaws 2 etc), got a thing now for Pan Books, the OHMSS tie-in edition of the novel and various other bits and pieces.

Stumbled across this cracker of a rendition of TLD by a-ha themselves. Good to see they still play the song. From a few years ago:

Yeah, I saw them in 2019 and Daylights was the very last track they played.

Admittedly I have a massive thing for movie tie ins.

I do like certain tie-ins, more or less older films. Not so much today.

You must have been buzzing! k.d. Lang came to Oz a few years back and I was interested in seeing her but I'd heard she doesn't usually include Surrender in her setlist, so I didn't go (since that is really the only reason why I'd want to see her perform live). Someone I knew ended up going and confirmed that she didn't, so I've assumed since then that many Bond theme artists don't (aside from Bassey, Duran Duran, etc.). All the more surprising to see a-ha still play it considering their icy relationship with Barry.

I may be small but I always comment! Phuyuck ‘21 sir.
I wonder how many people realize I include a tagline from the film on the title card tactfully adjusted to poke fun at myself?

My track for Spy. As usual I get finished and feel I didn't get to cover about 10000000 things. It's hard to mix scene specific analysis and do production history and team members and tech facts and the novelization mentions all at once. The image I used is the rare USA halfsheet poster with slightly alternate art. It's the oldest Bond poster I own and definitely my rarest one.

I'm amazed I've been able to crank these out so far. I get nervous about flubbing something before recording and suddenly it's done and I didn't cover a billion different things I wanted to. Astounding that FYEO is now 40!!!!!!!!!!!

I've already done a FYEO commentary or else I'd be tempted for the 40th. Wish I had Bouqet's number so we could do a co-commentary.
Or Topol, the commentary ruined as we eat pistachios.

That man is so full of life that even out of the part he rivals Pedro Amendariz. Pistachio commentary sounds fantastic. Of course I'd be doing my terrible impression of him as Columbo and Dr. Zarkov...
I realized I did Bond psychoanalysis in the FYEO track. I went into detail about Bond playing against his own standing on 5 rules at the casino and how he uses the Greek "yasou” when toasting Columbo who said the British "Cheers"-and this shows Bond's allegiance has been earned.

I do envy Topol that energy he has. Like Draco and Kerim Bey, there is surge of instant liking the moment Colombo starts speaking when he meets Bond properly. If Bond was a TV series, he could easily be the ally of a season.
Still, I find it slightly funny that in Cast a Giant Shadow- a film about the formation of Israel, Topol plays an Arab.
I'll have to look out for that bit, psychoanalysis sounds intriguing.

Me singing the title song badly. "That's a charming tune. You do take English money?" Can I have a job EON?

I amaze myself with these if I'm honest. I think before starting: do I really have anything interesting to say? Will this work? Am I just babbling? Film ends. I'm still talking.

I was again invited in the Laserdisc video podcast where the theme was spy spoofs and Bond knockoffs.
We were assigned five titles (Our Man Flint, CR67, Operation Kid Brother, Austin Powers and an ungodly thing that was mailed to us by the instigator of this...a movie so bad he found a random PAL DVD in the Netherlands and bought all five copies to mail to us...starring John Rhys Davies.) So if interested here's the episode and you can enjoy me trying my best to defend CR67 and rationalize it in as few words as possible off the cuff to four guys who are sharpening the knives...
The amazing thing is now there's a watchable letterbox version of Operation Kid Brother! So I finally watched it start to finish and it's absolutely amazing for people like us who are left mouths agape. Here it is-90's UA logo, US kid brother titles, no PAL speedup.

Sounds intriguing, tickled by the horrid movie and "all five copies". I'm picturing a film so bad most countries refuse to even have copies in their borders.
